Miss England- Having a laugh?

No? She's already made the final.

My point in general though has been brought up by others. Why is it ok to celebrate being - I'll use the word "large" - when it's so frowned upon for being 'stick' thin.

I have no idea why its ok to celebrate being "large" as you put it. Its daft but I guess we can blame the media for this whole mess anyway.

Yes but shes only there (IMO for PC I suspect).

Women are going to have a lower percentage of their total mass as muscle compared to men, so naturally fat is going to be a larger percentage of their mass as opposed to males

I find that top picture pretty unattractive (do not mistake this for "not attractive" - I actually find it repulsive). My girlfriend and I hate all this crap about "Curvy" being the new thing. In the top photo she does not look curvy, she looks fat. If you like her in that top photo, you're a chubby chaser.

It's so pathetically fake, it's blindingly obvious to anyone with even an ounce of common sense that a huge majority of the population find a slim figure more attractive. It's not even like slim girls don't have curves, I know plenty that have big boobs and nice arses without having a jelly-like mountainous stomach. I agree that tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny women are also hideous, but a great deal of models are just slim yet get tarred with the "skeleton" brush.

Shes a poor role model, just because she is the other end of the scale from skinny models means nothing. Do you think her doctor would say she was in prime condition?

Are we incapable of hitting the middle ground?? Its bizarre.

She does nothing for me on a personal level, facially, or body wise.

Not entirely true. Marilyn Monroe-esque figures are considered fat by many today.

:/

She is not about to keel over and have a stroke is she? Women don't look like Lucy Pinder and having a role model that looks normal is not a bad thing and is not encouraging everyone to run out and get a Big Mac, I'm sorry but quite frankly think that opinion is retarded.

I think your missing my point but nevermind.

That's because some people are stupid.

It's all due to the fact that there are women on both ends of the scale trying to pimp their look, which causes the media to jump all over it which in turn makes it seem like anyone in the middle is wrong.

Exactly.

Sorry but the opinions of a bunch of shallow ****s going eww and that is disgusting, you disgust me. I'd rather see someone size 12/14 modelling than some size 2 (US size 0) skeletor.
/rant

Shallow? This is a beauty contest, is it not. Being 'shallow' is the whole point.

My 2 cents are that that bikini shot is not flattering, although she looks pretty cute in the second picture.

Who exactly are you aiming this at here? Who dosen't have common sense?

That really isn't a very well constructed post for a Moderator in my opinion.

Zefan - agreed.

 I think she's a little on the large size really, but really thin models seem to be accepted (perhaps less so recently) so I don't really see what all the fuss is about... Or maybe she's becoming well known simply because people are making such a fuss?

I'm sure if she was a size or two smaller (14 or 12?) then she'd be more attractive IMO.

I think the fuss is being made because it goes to far the other way, from too skinny to too curvy(basically, fat ).
