Short term she will be fine, medium to long term her health will be suffering. She will be massively increasing her chances of diabetes and heart disease. Some research also indicates that the probability of getting breast cancer are also higher in overweight people. From a health perspective she is a VERY poor role model. But, she is also a good role model by promoting confidence, regardless of your size.

I actually agree with the first para from Zefan. I am not scared to admit i like curvy women, but she is not curvy in the same sense as most find attractive.

However, Marilyn was large for her time, but she had a beautiful face, and dressed well. She was hot, because she was sexy and beautiful. Her size was irrelevant.

I wouldn't exactly say she's fat, but larger than most women. Although saying that I much prefer someone her size than some stick thin size 6/8 that I would break in half.

Yes, fine, we all have our own definition of attractive but does that grant us the right to go slagging off this girl, who I a) think is damn brave to do what she's doing when she has to contend with such dweebs as yourselves and b) you know NOTHING about. How on EARTH did someone come to the conclusion she's not a role model? Just because she's not a stick she's a bad influence?! I'm not being funny but if we are going to look at it like that - what about Dawn French? What a bloody fantastic woman we have there. You saying she's a poor role model too because she's obese? Rubbish.
And before you start ranting at me that this is a beauty competition and thus not a good role model as it will make girls run out and stuff their faces with "Pasties" and things... you're mad. Never ever in this world will we see this happen - please do prove me wrong and by all means point me in the direction of any case studies of women eating themselves silly so they can get larger and therefore "more attractive". I imagine you will find yourselves a realm of anorexia studies on your quest.

To be honest though, true as it may be, health has nothing to do with this contest. She is not conventionally beautful. I am not saying that fat women can't look nice. A fat woman like her is not a conventional beauty contest winner. That's that. And just because it's the 21st century and people like being 'different' etc does not make her any more beautiful, or better qualified to win this contest.
