If you're needing to borrow money to buy an Evo I would not be considering something that's been tuned to 500+ bhp. It will bankrupt you.

yellow Evo, link removed

this one looks interesting, well maintained and a good price/low miles.... i love the colour.

This is very wise advice. Generally it's not cheap to replace anything on an EVO, whether it be a clutch (or the clutch packs in an SST box), a transfer box or a diff, but, the thing you must consider is whether you will leave it standard. The temptation with them is to tune them, which I would with a X but not with a VI. The VI is rapidly becoming a classic and a good one should appreciate if kept completely standard. However, the Evo X 300 SST is a very very capable car once tuned and a remap will see over 350bhp easily. It's a slippery slope though.

There are a few really good specialists out there that will keep you straight but most, if not all, owners do not trust Mitsubishi Dealerships with their Evo's and travel to specialists for just about everything. Have a look on lancerregister. It's basically an Evo forum.

the trouble with a showroom is they dont answer your questions fully, dont know enough about its history and keep their answers brief, all they want is get rid of the car without revealing too much. i dont trust fresh imports either...not anymore.

you're looking for someone that's a genuine Evo fan and the price is right.

edit:- i'm seeing the yellow Evo 5 tomorrow ;)

flipping heck :eek::eek::eek::eek:

the seller's father has 15 cars, 6 Evos and a Zero fighter from from WW2 :eek: all stored in an aircraft Hanger, the car is his father's.....Dad must be seriously loaded, because he collects cars for fun.

his son is amazing he wouldn't stop talking, him and his brothers own a further 6 Evos, this car is for sale because dad has had a hip replacement, it comes with a private plate ..:D

man this is weird, i'm totally gob smacked

OP has surely realised that a bank loan for a heavily modded Evo isn't the greatest idea? You must know how often these let go once the lump is pushed so hard?

yes, i wont buy a heavily modded Evo, i'm going to see this one tomorrow and if it's no good, then i'm not going to bother any more

this car is for weekend fun only and i doubt i'll be able to drive it that crazy anyway, there's too many police around.

I don't know why you don't trust fresh imports. I'd much rather have one of those with zero rust, than a car that's spent 10+ winters running on our salty roads.

it's their Dell Boy attitude, because i've spoken to quite a few, it's this car tomorrow or no more.

Why did you post all that twice? Why do we need to know about the sellers hip replacement. How very specific. And odd.

That yellow evo has some horrible cheapo wheels on it.
Is there a rich and vibrant back story to accompany that?

wheels are easy to replace, as for the rest of your post, that's pretty typical of you i suppose !!
