Why bother buying an Evo then? Wasn't the entire point that it's amazing 4wd system defied physics whatever the weather?

They suffer badly with rot though, like most Jap tin.

I'd happily drive an Evo but if I was buying it to drive then I'd get an Evo 8 or 9, a 6 TME is more and more of a collectors piece as time goes by I feel, especially if standard (ish) and with very low mileage like that one. Depends what you want to use the car for....if its an investment, get a 6 TME and baby it (dry driving only etc), if its a car to enjoy on a more regular or even daily driver basis then get a newer one.

all of the best Evos are becoming collectors cars, because the low mileage ``standard trim`` Evos are selling within 2 days.

you wont get a low mileage TME for less than about £17000, could be much higher..... it'll only be cheap if it's over 70 000 miles

These are cars for the serious enthusiast. If you have to ask other's opinions, then the answer is no, surely?

This. These aren't cars you buy and simply use, they require some serious attention and will make you want to rip your hair out fairly often. Unless you specifically want this car as a collector's piece you can enjoy, I'd be looking to spend that cash elsewhere.

Also, £16.5k for a '99 Impreza? Bloody hell

I think they're the kind of cars if you need to ask about them you don't know enough and therefore should probably walk away. If you want an Evo you know you want an Evo.

Purely as an investment i'd go with a TME and just garage it but remember if you do drive it that it will need servicing and things will break on it and need replacing so pretty quickly plus the mileage is going up potentially eating into the value.

Depends what you want, if you have £15k burning a hole in your pocket and you've always loved Evo's then yeah go for it as you get to drive your dream and not really lose any of the capital at the end of the day even though it will have fairly high ongoing costs, if you just fancy a fast/new car there's probably better ways to go about it. Get a classic impreza for 3k and thrash it around would probably be more fun than babying an appreciating classic a few times a year?

If your not going to drive it keep it 10 years so it appreciates to a decent amount yes otherwise no get the one for less then 9 and use as it was intended :)

If you want an evo 6 buy a 5k one, thrash it, break it, fix it and enjoy the damn thing.
If you want an investment opportunity avoid this one, its already at a premium and personally don't see them appreciating much more, its neither a special edition, 1st edition or a Ford ;)

I remember 5th gear doing a comparison against a Evo VII when it was first released and it kicked its backside. That car is very overpriced though. Wouldn't pay more than 10k for one.
