Ok

I have read some more

Your crazy. You have no idea what your doing around cars like this. If you want one, sit back then go on MLR forum and read. Read some more. Think some more. Then take someone with you to view any car

Take most milage on any import as pinch of salt also and if it looks really fresh it's likely been painted up recently, you need to look much deeper than shiny paint

Might seem like I'm being a whab but someone is going to take your trousers off and tie you up then call lee-Roy around to the tune of 15.k
You will never walk the same again

you can deffo see the cars history when you look at it, it's original paint for sure, original mileage too, it might actually be good that it is scruffy !!!! because at least i know that it is original.

but i'm not messing around with this much longer, i'll buy another car next week from Honda

right, he wouldn't take my reduced offer for the Evo 6, he wants 14.5K for a car with a scruffy exterior........goodbye

not a huge problem, because there's quite a few on the Evo forum

i'm quite odd.....no sorry i meant quite old ;)

right now what, well it looks like i have to go for broke and buy something from the Evo forum, i'll be busy over there from now on.

Sounds like you have decided in the last few days you want an Evo and want one now.

Any evo is not a car you go in blind to buy. Never mind a 15+ year old £15k-ish Evo.

Have you come into a bit of money and got over excited? Going by your posts, it looks like it.

What do you want from a car?

i'm not going in blind, if so i would've brought that car today.

the problems i'm having and they still remain :-

1..... i'd rather replace mine with something much faster and reliable, that i can drive all the time

2.......i'm not happy with the Type R at 30 grand, but it would be a good replacement for mine

3.......i'm not 100% sure about a car for weekend use only

4.....the Evo is not be a smart car to buy for everyday use, because i need total reliability.... but if it's a weekend car it's ok, because i'll have my other car to get me to work.

this is strange, writing this makes me see sense, forget the Evo, either get the Type R or another new car that's faster than mine, but not as expensive as that.

this would be something like the Fiesta ST with the Stage 2 or even 3 performance mod.....

Fiesta ST and Evo in the same post baffles me. Two totally different beasts. The ST just doesn't compare to an Evo!

.

yes i know but it's a more sensible car to buy, i need a few days away to clear my head, i would have brought that Evo today if he had only come down to 11 grand, because i loved it as soon as i saw it.

this has bugged me

I've just seen the other evo you're looking at on the MLR.
Now that is a very nice car!

I got my first evo from the same company in Bristol and it was in absolutely mint condition.
That said. This one has been in the country since 2004 so you're right in asking for pictures of the underside. Especially near the rear subframe mounts and above the petrol tank if at all possible.

I'd be tempted to ask MG Auto's if they'd do an inspection of the car for you while he's up there on Friday.

that 530HP one has a full 15 page rebuild thread from a previous owner, he's selling it to buy another Evo.

the Evo i saw 2 days ago he's dropped his price, but it's still 1k too much, lets see if he drops it again, that Evo is a genuine 26 000 miles.

the Evo to me is a dream car, i first wanted one years ago when i was only 30 but i couldn't afford it..... i'd much rather have an Evo than any other car, the car wont be driven too hard anyway because i'm not that sort of driver anymore, but it's there if i want it.

he's dropped his price again and he's agreed to polish out the marks, but as an escape clause, i'm seeing that other Evo next week.

the other guy at MG is much friendlier and to a degree i trust him, he's an Evo nutcase (money no object) so my guess is it's in very good condition.....they probably all are, (who are regulars on that forum).

trust no one especially when parting with money.99 percent of evos like subarus are hammered.

evos probably more.

yes i know and i'm very worried about this

i've read this :- You can tell by the wear on the steering wheel, floor carpet, pedals, gear knob and seats. watch out for Turbo Boost Controls, Clutch play....engine mods

therefore, the only one i trust is the one i saw, because that was totally pristine inside ( same as a new car), stock engine bay and no engine mods....but even then it could still have problems, e.g it had a new exhaust tail section, no Evo 6 Stickers on rear, new tyres and refurb wheels ...........why for only 26 00 miles ............maybe just to sex it up for selling only.

to me it looks like this, the original owner was just starting to mod a low mileage car, but he decided to sell it instead.

the best thing is to take an Inspector with me next time but if the showroom sais no, then one can forget it

i've just sent him the Email, i bet he thinks i'm a complete pain in the bum.... because you wouldn't need any of this with a year old Jazz :)

the same will go for the other Evo too..... the 530HP one, yes i feel much better now.

Stripes were optional. I'm sure dessimpson will be along soon, he knows a fair bit about TME's and their respective options.

it's not a TME, this one is missing the EVO 6 sticker on the boot, it only costs 6 quid..................... but let's see if he allows an inspection;)

the guy with a 550HP EVO welcomes an inspection, it's on the ramps right now at the MG Garage, he's getting the underside photographed............. my main concern is the engine/clutch etc, because the rest is either new or rebuilt.... the engine is too, but this area bothers me.

it's so damned hard to tell if these guys are b******** you and to be frank i cant take much more of this rubbish, it's a constant worry, i'll give to the end of next week and if i'm still not sure i'll go for the Honda Type R

i've already got the Finance quote for it, i went back to Honda today, it's just waiting for me to sign, it'll take 3 months to get the car, but lets give this Evo Merry go round one more week............ thank God i'm at work tomorrow

i've viewed that many times, but it's too far away to take a look, esp if it's a real dog.

a white car with overexposed photos, it hides all the paint faults i've learnt that with 4Star, finally he's modded the engine, a silly blow off valve and a boost controller.

is it worth paying £100 to get the car inspected while i remain at home waiting, not if i have grave doubts already. i'll only get an Evo inspected up North if i'm sure it's worth it

this i've had for ages, it's a strong outsider, but he doesn't talk much..... it's done only 24 000
he is not an Evo Nutjob, he'e the quiet serious type...doesn't suffer fools

another good one and i love yellow....easy to polish, hides scratches

then finally there's this :eek::eek::eek:...... it's affordable, but i fancy a price drop first !

The £29k car was sold for £20k last year. Wynfords have put a £9k mark-up on it.

it's old it's 2nd hand, ok it might be perfect but it's still not new, i'd buy it for 20K easy.

if it has a 9k mark-up they'll never let it drop it that far again, it'll only go for about 27k.

i've just received a respray quote for that Evo, it's £5500 and about the same from another yesterday, you can forget that straight away.

worth mentioning though.
