MM Access Worth It or Not?

See, that's the exact attitude I mentioned in my earlier post. Why should the benefit of trading on the MM sit entirely with the buyer through lower price? The perceived benefit of using the MM to avoid scammers isn't exclusive to the seller, the buyer is also purchasing from someone that's part of the community and therefore benefiting from lower risk.

Pay a fair price, and everyone wins. You don't overpay, the seller gets a fair price and you're getting lower risk versus eBay.

I've lost count of the times I've seen posters offering derogatory offers, someone comes in with either asking or close to asking price and the person who made the derogatory offer then asks to be second in line. If you wanted the item and are willing to pay the higher price, just offer it in the first instance.

Most of my for sale posts on the MM state that I'm not open to offers because I know what I can get for the items via eBay (filter by completed sales of said item). I'll usually price a tad lower on here so there's still value to be had. If I get no bites, I'll put it on eBay and sell for higher.

I agree some of the offers are just complete pee takes. But I feel the general consensus is that people are happy to knock a few quid off for an easy sale. Also you're avoiding eBay fees too which can easily offset the higher sale price on there.

There's a price checks forum in the MM. It will be to stop people asking what something is worth and then selling it outside of the MM.
agree and i did ask before i posted, Just seems strange i got a router from 5 years ago how much it worth? needs special access to ask.

It may sound cliche, but when selling anything anywhere, I always try to do it at a 'mates rates' kind of budget or under what it is say on ebay without the tax, so as sad as it sounds, it creates positive karma?
Then I'll receive it back with a bargain in the future off someone else? And everyone's happy?
That's the way I've always done it, along with going overkill on the packaging to protect stuff.

The price check forum is pretty much dead and should only be one of a few places to check as over the years theres been some members here that have posted in a users price check and lowballed the items worth and the same posters that lowballed what the item was worth ends up buying the item within a couple of mins when the user ends up posting it in the for sale section.

Obviously on this forum though you're better on being nasty to people and arguing as much as possible in a typing version of 'fighting until the death' so you don't come across weak and then after slaying them can brag about a post count.

Someone did me a solid awhile ago @andy_mk3 and by sheer fluke in the future, was interested in something I decided to sell, as soon as I saw who it was I knocked off another £20 and posted it the same night as a thank you, so I do as sad as it sounds believe if you put out good energy into the universe... You get it back. It was nice to return the favour, you know?

Absolutely, that's how it should be :)

Thats great and the way it should be generally done imo.

I've seen a few times where I was going to make an offer but stopped myself as it was kinda a lowball offer compared what the asking price was so I was happy just to let things ride out and try my offer if the asking price was to come down abit. Another poster comes in and really lowballs them and seller accepts.

In the case where people make lowball offers and then ask to be second in line they also may engage in a ebay style bidding wars or edit their offer which is a rule break but it sometimes this doesnt get moderated. Sometimes I think to myself I thought this was an Forsale forum not a ebay style bidding auction house.

Seems good, a lot of the computer stuff I end up giving away the rare times I sell on ebay I go by roughly the average of the last months sold prices and the vast majority of the time the item sells within a couple of hours.

yeah funny ****** :D

It's changed a lot, it's quite rare now I see something I think is well priced and I actually want / need that didn't get snapped up in the first minute.
There seems to be a big drop in listings over the years and particulaly this last quarter. I have notifications on and it mostly seems to be random accessories or smart watches I assume were bundled with a new phone contract :D

I don't think I've sold anthing on there in a long time... I tend to gift stuff on or sell it at mates rates in my circle.

Kinda cool to have it though as it's way to trade with less risk of being scammed and I am proberly due a clear out of 'too good for the tip stuff...'

Unfortunately there's a fair few users who constantly snap up stuff and never make any actual posts on the forum. New rules should exclude those from accessing and letting the regular members have a chance at any deals.

They should have implemented limits esp during the GPU shortages though this would have been an admin nightmare on how much a user could buy in certain period of time to help curb this as certain users constantly buying items posting a reply in some cases before the minute had even turned so I'm guessing they was using bots.
