MMORPG's - how to quit?

Why quit? If you enjoy it and it makes you happy, why quit?

Sure if it's causing arguments with your other half, or your not performing your duties at work. But if the only problem is that you enjoy the game and look forward to playing it when your at work, then surely there's nothing wrong with that.

Think of all the football obsessed, they do the same thing with "the beautiful game" all the time.

Beat me to it :)

I used to be addicted to online gaming (Quakeworld), and I knew that it would result in me getting a poor degree, but I didn't care, because it's such a great and enjoyable game I deemed it worth the sacrifice.

Believe me, 'real life'(TM) isn't all it's cracked up to be. You can move on from WoW when you are ready to. I've basically broken my addiction naturally now, not by going cold turkey, but just letting things run their course. I still really like playing QW, but I don't feel a need to anymore. A couple of weeks can go by without me missing it.

I've probably spent literally a few months of real time (thousands of hours) playing Quake but it's not wasted time because I enjoy it. A lot more fun than watching telly, waiting to get served in a pub, or even some of the time I spend with my gf.

I am thinking of cancelling WoW again :(

It seems to have a lot of idiots playing it, aswell as being really boring and time consuming. Was fun for a while. Just seems to be too serious really, or maybe thats just the players.

I think I must remove everything to do with WoW to succeed this time tho.

Just cancel the account online, uninstall the game. I did this a little while ago and am glad I did, WoW took up way to much of my time.

I think there whould be a health warning on MMO boxes, something like

WARNING - This game may cause you to become a social reject and never see the true light of day again!!!

Quit your guild, and then cause it to disband. You then have no friends to play with and won't even want to log on any more. Of course you have to be level 60 for it to work... ;).

The WoW community is enough to make me quit.

TBH I'm sick of WoW...it gets repetative at lvl60 quite quickly I feel. I've got a bunch of mates that I know from RL that I play with, and I can't bare to group with strangers for raids as most of the time because 80% of them are just idiots.

I actually only play WoW when I've got nothing better to do...

just cancel....once your past the 1st couple of weeks of not playing the urges start to fade....also helps to find something to occupy you, going out with mates, the pub anything really...or in my case an absolute ton of coursework...damn A-levels

Some good advice.

And yep, when you hit 60 the fun diminishes - it becomes 'all about raiding' which is tedious and more like a job than grinding levels is.

Perhaps a life in a welsh mountain cave would be good. I could get a big stick. And a pet bear. And cook lean wolf steaks ARRRGHHHH NOOOOOooooo

Thats the big problem the community is dire, although i do find its server to server, generally the pvp servers are worse. You have to develop a really thick skin, but sometimes you do find a really nice group, when you do find a good group the game is in its element.

Oh. My. God.

heh if ** bored u obviously all need to stop playing as rogues/shaman/hunters and roll a nice warlock... definately makes the game a lot more interesting :D

oh and if u really want to give up just make sure u have plenty of other things to do that are just as easy, as in films books tv other games

i have like 3 hobbies but they all take a bit of work... and so wow often beats them for my attention because its easy to play

You roll 10d20, if you score 199 or above you can quit.

In my experiance you just have to keep playing till you become so flipping annoyed by the new changes that you can't take anymore
Let me guess u played Star Wars Galaxies? Building a Jedi which took 4months constant grinding, then watching others get it in a week when changes were made and now its a starting prof will soon make you think that its not worth it. Double wammy for my master weaponsmith I spent an equal amount of time on.

I cancelled my account today.

Was beginning to get very bored at lvl50+(warlock).

I used to be able to play it on linux using cedega at a reasonable speed but performance has vastly changed since the latest patches, crawling from 75fps to 5fps.
I also am beginning to get very worried about privacy issues with the games checks and also with the EULA changing on every patch. I shouldn't need to feel that any of my private information could be disclosed, especially that of other apps which are running. ALT-TAB seems to make the system slow.

I just cba wasting anymore of my life on it :( the time it takes for raids etc is just getting longer and longer, with the time of travelling around the world added on.

I'm on a nice clean install of windows now :) not going to install WoW again, I hope.
