I've been using the Barclays banking app since the moment it was released. The only other app I've used. Or should I say "attempted to use". Was Santander's app.

Now to be fair to Santander. This was a number of years ago. So they have have improved it since then. However, I found it to be absolutely rubbish. Especially when compared to Barclays offering. Which imo just continues to get better and better.

What's the competition like out there. And which app so you rate highly..... Or poorly?

Santander is much better than it was, Natwest is slowly getting better too.
Only other one I've got experience of is the Barclaycard app which is pretty good.

HSBC used to be rubbish, but i binned them off a number of years ago.
Nationwide is pretty good, only thing you cant do is setting up new payees which you have to do on the website.

Barclays is pretty excellent, I can think of any problems I've had with it. It also allows you to switch between business and personal accounts without logging out.

I use Santander and Halifax. They're significantly better on iOS than android, with Santander being unbearable on Android. Most of the time I'm told I've entered my passcode incorrectly, resulting in a lock up of my account. Even though I'll proceed to reset it to the same one and have it work fine...

Banking apps have to be the worst part of owning a bank account.

Monzo. /Thread.

As for normal banks, Barclays and Halifax are decent, Nationwide would be up there if it was t for the afformentioned inability to set up new payees.

TSB - Pretty good

Lols. The TSB app is pretty damn poor IMO. I closed an account purely because the app was so dire, and their new app whilst better, still had bugs which was reflected in its Play Store rating.

Currently I really rate the Barclays banking app, it does almost everything you would need to do from the app that you'd do from the site (which is also excellent).

Santander is also very good. Both Barclays and Santander can set up new payees without the need for a card reader or complex processes. It just works.

To be honest, i've only got it as savings in a current account, so the only thing i've ever done is logged in to make a payment back to my main account, haven't used any other features etc. So might be poor from that side of things.

Natwest does everything I need and is relatively nice to use. The option of generating a code to pull out cash if I've lost/left my card elsewhere is a nice bonus as well.
