I know how everyone here loves low powered modded cars ;) so thought I'd share.

Here she was a few months back riding on rusty steelies:

Since then I've lowered it 60mm on really stiff springs and shocks, got hold of some of the 14" anthracite turbo alloys and whacked in a strut brace.

Why you ask? Waste of money!

I don't know how many of you have drove one, but they're an absolute death trap as standard. Show it a bend and it'll understeer into next week thanks to the skinny tires. It also has bad bodyroll and a chassis like cheese. :/

So... all the above makes it much nicer to drive. The only cosmetic things I've done are de-tangoing the side and fronts and also put in some clocks with tacho and temp gauge from a not-so-basic model.

Just washed - bit cloudy for pics though:

I could spend stupid amounts doing other things but that would be a waste, saving for a 106 gti now.

/Waits to be destroyed.

There are far worse things to spend your money on. At least you are being sensible with it, and not sticking a load of tat on like a stupid bodykit or decals.

Those wheels are a LOT better than the old ones :)

They don't work with the colour of you car. But if the wider tyres help the handling then why not? If you like it. :) The drop look a little too low for me.

I like it, not over the top. Not really a fan of that particular shade of silver/gold/beige whichever it is, though.

Nothing to moan about there mate. Looks tidy to me although as said maybe a little low for my taste :p

I like it, the wheels look good. Tyres, wider wheels and decnt suspension are probably the best things you can spend money on as far as modding slow cars goes. Helps keep the speed up through the bends;).

I think you've done well mate, and for a practical reason too. My Escort is similarly dangerous when it comes to handling, as Clarkson would say, "It understeers like a shopping trolley full of logs."

I could try and sort it out but I'd rather just buy a better car.

Is that powerhouse a Punto 55 or 60? Either way it would be one of the few cars I could beat on this forum in a race he he.

Cheers for the comments.

It's the 60. :p

I know the wheels won't be to everyones taste, but they go down well with the Punto fanboys. I paid quite a bit for them.

It does look a bit low but it doesn't scrape or anything as the bumpers are tiny, there's no sideskirts and the backbox is the standard small one.

I think the dark wheels work well with the black bumpers.

Personally I don't see any problem with modding a low powered car (maybe because I own a 75BHP beast myself) Modding is about doing what you want to do with your own motor. Its no worse than someone with a 300BHP car spending ££££'s to make it 308BHP with a 0.04s lower 0-60 time.

Preferred the steels...

...And it's at least 3" too high.

I did actually spray 'em and it looked pretty ghetto decked on the steelies, but the rust started coming back. I don't like rust.
