Modding the Antec Skeleton

To get a replacement fan I first used the support form here: http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/EUnewticket.php they told me I needed a replacement and gave me an RMA email address along with the details I needed to give. Along the way I had to provide proof of purchase (scanned my Overclockers invoice) I did not need to return my old fan and it didn't cost me a penny. It's just a shame my "problem" wasn't fixed but if yours does the same as mine then I guess I'm trying to get something fixed that isn't possible. At least I've got a spare should the original die on me.

They're pretty quick to reply by email, so don't let email contact put you off.

Nice work Ozzy, what have you done so far?
Any chance of a few more pics? Particularly the graphics you have on the side.
Glad you like the thread

UK supply of Antec Skeleton Mesh Kit

hear hear
No case = no airflow problems. I used to have a tuniq tower 120 in my old traditional style case, and now have an "inferior" zalman model that just happens to reduce my temps by 15-20 degrees more than the tuniq.

Nice find by the the way avrc. Hows yours coming along? Does any one know where to get the mesh kits? Not sure I would fit the whole kit, maybe just some of the parts, and perhaps look at changing the colours, just to be that little bit dif.

Those lovely lads at Antec Eu (Holland) should be able to help you get the Mesh Kit if you want it, That's where I got mine

i've got my eye on this case.... it's definitely interesting, but it needs to be larger with more head room.... it would've been more popular if it was 2'' wider all around and 2'' taller

it looks better with the mods/ blue lighting shown above

yeas.. I think I spotted it in one of the photos..
it 's a blue.. double, hidden on the background

that blue rad should be UV reactive

The case looks mental, but a question for owners out there...

Does it tend to collect more or less dust than a typical closed case? With it being so open I just think it's got potential to be a nightmare - eg, open a can of coke and you'll undoubtedly get some fizz splattered on it... sneeze (it could happen!) etc.

It's probably one of the coolest open-air cases i've seen though, but there's not much modding potential other than some UV cabling, fans etc though, is there?

offcourse there is...

besides custom painting it...
you can dress it with acrylics..
plate it...

ppl have even made it to look like a remote controlled car..
just use your imagination

As mantioned earlier in this thread, dust really not an issue, in fact probably less so as no case "dead spots" for dust to gather. With regards to coke etc have you ever sprayed coke on your existing tower or do you cherish it like... well.... a very cherished thing.

Lots of potential for modding, but got to think outside the box (no pun intendeed), hence the idea for this thread in the first place. I'm actually thinking of buying a second one so I can mess around with it while still keeping my PC up and running in the original. Water cooling seems to be the biggest challenge as space is at a premium, but as we've seen it can be done.

Admittedly I've never dropped a can of coke on my existing case. But there's always the possibility that I might, so I like my system to be reasonably well protected if it happens. Surely the whole point of a case is to protect your system from the elements? Otherwise you might as well not bother and put your gear on a shelf. At least then you could use a decent CPU cooler.

well is it the XSPC or the magicool?

basically I am interested to see how bright it is under UV...

I was considering on getting 2 triple from magicool... but I had a few concerns...
1st how bright they are.. and 2ndly.. is the pant much thicker than the normal black?
i.e. does it hinder their performance?

I see you are running an E8400.. could you perhaps make a mention on your temps?
My E8400 with 1.27v idles around +8 ~ +9 from ambient with an RD240 rad

thanks.. and good luck with the move out

oh, was hoping it was a more simple request than that:p
its xspc and i never got round to testing the uv, even in a case. it was just spare. the paint does seem to be quite thin on the side walls and has come away in a few places. i would like to think black would always produce more heat but would be only slightly?
hmmm, temps, im at 3.8 with this board at 1.35 i think, mid 30's idle and high 60's on a long bench. stock im not sure, think it was mid 20's and never touched 40, ive changed a lot of things around so not on a temp mission at the moment. not totally useful but thats all i can come up with for now, personally, i dont like the uv, its a bit offensive unless they did different shades.

mmm I see..
sorry to put you in any trouble...
..but nay chance of some good close ups of the rad? and perhaps the bits it has come off?

nevertheless you are satisfied with its performance right?
