Modified Impreza's

I am putting it down to the driver and claim profile of the car, not the performance given that other high performance cars are much more insurable. The impreza is just completely out of proportion, i get quoted for 3 times that of a modified MR2 Turbo or 200sx for example.

Massive downside to the impreza for me, i just dont think i could justify the extra insurance over other similar performance vehicles :( As an "old man" i guess it makes more sense!

Am i the only one who finds insurance absolutely disgraceful on these things? I would sorely love an impreza turbo, they are cheap to buy, can look fantastic (as shown in this thread!) and perform amazingly.

Everythings is perfect about them, other than their stupid insurance premiums. Its just way out of proportion to everything else :(

Without falling into the young/performance car debate, insurance is costly for them for the young but shopping around does help. Mines cheaper than it has ever been with all mods declared.

Can't believe I used to think £1000 was a good deal when I had my GTIR at 22!

A UK Turbo isn't the fastest by a long chalk and yes other cars nowadays can give them a run for their money etc etc. But they are one of the cheapest to run and assuming you are going to keep it for a long time as things need replacing and you upgrade each item as and when you will end up with a serious bit of kit.

Plus being 4 door, you can still justify buying one if your a family man like me :)

Awesome! By far the nicest... After all the time ive taken deciding what to go for, ive now got to a point of REALLY needing a car, so until ive decided what to do. Im picking up a J plate Mk2 Golf Gti 8v... Its in mint condition and only done 60k!!! Ill get some pics up as soon as i can...

The impreza was always going to be a "Garaged Car" for special occasions ;) or just after work when i need to unwind a little... so i still have the funds for it, but for the meantime im going to hold on for a "diamond" ;)

2.5l NA. The Americans never got the turbo, it wouldn't pass their emmissions regs. They got the 2.5 instead, in 2 or 4 door. They only recently got a 2.5l Turbo STi.

:)

I wa referring to it being in a different league to other similar performing cars, it must be down to the image :( I mean how can a standard, not hugely fast turbo2000 be 3x more expensive than an MR2 Turbo for the same insurance terms? Its over 2.5x more expensive than a 200sx with engine mods declared.

Really annoying as they are such excellent cars, i really have to wonder how all the cheap "chavved" scoobs are insured :(

Not a proper clean and polish, just a quick tidy up :)

The top picture doesnt work.
What spec is that scoob, and dont say P1 or what ever they are coz i saw your thread about the wing :p

When making the pics smaller, they've lost the quality and the top one looked particularly bad - not much better now!

No it isn't a P1 LOL - only salvaged the rear wing and spoiler from the P1 parts I bought. Gutted the seats were damaged - watching some Recaro Prodrive seats on Ebay right now.

Spec:
Hayward & Scott decat exhaust
K&N Panel filter
HKS SSQV
ECUTEK remap @ 269 (On a good day ;) )
Earthkit mod
I/C tilt kit and I/C splitter
Godspeed 335 conversion & Ferrodo pads
Grooved rear discs
Braided brake lines
P1 O.Z. alloys with Toyos
P1 Rear spoiler
Front splitter of unknown make
Colour coded skirts
PIAA lights (waiting to go on)

Thats all I can think of right now.

It looks nice:)
How much are yopu going to pay for the seats? Give me a price because i say some WRC prodrive ones around on the nest somewhere for not to much(wasnt ebay)
Could you get a picture from the rear? That exuast looks crooked to me

If they're the same ones I've seen, £600. Which is quite cheap for proper Prodrive Recaros..

Crooked as in not going straight out? Yeah, they all do that. Its better iirc...

They might be the ones your talking about.
Why is it better if the scoobs exaust isnt straight and is off to the side?
It kind of looks like the size of a rocket launcher, is there much point behind this?

the angled exit on the exhaust is better for flow... as normally the scooby has quite a bend in the exhaust to get it to point it straight out. Plus the angled jap box looks GREAT :D
