First engine failure for Mercedes in as long as I can remember? Can't imagine Merc will be too happy if it turns out to be that they left a radiator covered!

They got the inside line on turn 1, while button was stuck behind the other cars trapped on the outside.

Looks like a blanker was left on one of the radiator inlets on the way to the grid.
Engine has then blown whilst he was behind the safety car.

I can't quite work out what happened with the engine failure on Jenson's car. Ted said he spotted it and mentioned it to engineer. Was it just in on the outlap and then removed before the race or did the traditional McLaren brain fade mean it was still in at the start?
