Monaco Grand Prix 2011, Monte-Carlo - Race 6/19

well they are soft and super-soft, to avoid confusion it would be best if people used the correct names.

This is why the teams just refer to them as Prime and Option. Brundle has started to call the tyres "the harder of the 2 compounds" or "the softer of the 2 compounds" at least, which is better than hard and soft.

Super-softs to only last 10 laps. While I quite enjoy that kind of thing in racing, I fully expect to see at least one of the top runners aiming to use just one set in Quali so they have more for the race.

I'd only just noticed this today... Really hadn't been paying much attention...
How can this be seen as a good thing?
Everyone will have to save tyres, qualifying action will suffer. The race will end up just a tyre mess.

Will the levels of grip even make a difference to the racing?
I'd love there to be some great overtakes at this Monaco Grand Prix but I just can't see it.

Disappointed with the no DRS rule this weekend also.

Hopefully this race gets binned soon. (Unless it rains this weekend)

Its Heidfeld's turn for classic gp's this week :)

Just watched the 01 Brazilian gp, we should race there twice a year... But more importantly it's highlighted the better standard of driving from the back markers over the last few years compared to 10 years ago. Forgot how many times races could have been decided by a back marker taking out the race leader.

Love the 1 week break too and traditional thursday p1 and p2! Makes tomorrow an awesome day

They have DRS...

I will be amazed if it's useful though. They might as well just turn it off for this race.

I hate this 'race track' the sooner this race is done and we move on the better. Better still drop it from the championship and make it a prize money event and lets go racing somewhere else :D

So you would rather we loose this crown jewel event and instead go to another Tilke Drone in a far off country where nobody is interested in F1?

I'd rather watch actual racing yes. It doesn't have to be far off, plenty of great circuits have been removed over the years I'd rather be on the calandar.

I don't see it as a crown jewel, more an exhibition match.

What, like Abu Dhabi, where even when a WDC title depended on it, drivers still couldn't overtake!

No DRS zone in the tunnel, that is just about the only place to overtake before the chicane.

There was never going to be DRS in the tunnel in the race anyway, the zone is the start/finish straight. This ban affects practice and qualifying only.

Monaco is such a boring race. I can see why the drivers love it (the challenge) but as a spectator all it has going for it is the glamour which is all off track.
