Monaco Grand Prix 2012, Monte Carlo - Race 6/20

i expect a few teams will 1 stop, the only real passing is on the straight and coming out of the tunnel and i bet the tyres last a lot longer at monaco than other tracks

Reading F1 Racing mag today, the interview with Eddie Jordan suggests the BBC build up for Monaco they recorded with JB & LH is very funny. Probably going to watch the BBC feed this weekend to mix it up.

theres no high speed corners though so aslong as people arent power sliding they shouldnt grain and wear to bad once your in a decent position you should be able to go as slow as you want on most of the apexes without risk of beeing overtaken.
apart from racasse ands whatever the corner is called before the hotel tunnel

Cool, love this race, just tense and silly.

Already got my few quid left over from the weekend on either of the merc's on pole (in my eyes the best traction so could be a shout for pole). Want either a renault or sauber to win though for the awesome diver, team mix run to keep going!

Anything can happen at Monaco, still have fond memories of nearly crying when Mark's Williams blew up from the lead...

I have a really bad memory for individual races and what happened, I can't remember why there was a red flag in last years race. Was that the race Button easily raced up to the back of Alonso and Vettel who for some reason were on stupidly old tyres, but after a couple laps trying to overtake completely gave up trying and just followed them around like a big girl hoping they would fall to pieces?

Isn't it a tad presumptuous to assume Button would have won if not for the red flag considering, he couldn't get past them on his tyres at almost their best and he didn't look even slightly like getting past them, without the tyre wear or overtaking places for awful tyres to make a difference?

Either way, I hope something bad happens in quali so all the faster cars get stuck half way down the grid(or further) again, otherwise it will be an absolute snoozefest.

Last Williams to win at Monaco was in 2003 with Montoya at the controls (he was in contention for the WDC until his penalty at the US GP that year). :)

If I recall correctly, it was because of the Hamilton-Sutil-Alguersuari-Petrov collision at the swimming pool chicane.

Ahhhh! I was warmly remembering about the 2006 race, had the best qualifying of MSc "parking" it and a mate of mine shouting "IS HE ALLOWED TO DO THAT?!?!?!" with me screaming "HE'S PARKED IT THE CHEAT" :D

The race its self had Webber's exhaust breaking and Kimi's heat shield catching fire removing everyone I wanted to win in comedy style and DC coming 3rd in the Red Bull!

With a possible spinal injury and no way to assess the driver without having a number of people on the track on the racing line, it had to be red flagged.

Spunkey thinks otherwise, but that's his prerogative. I brought up the safety car alternative because that's been done before at Canada and Nurburgring when drivers were injured but the track wasn't completely blocked (eg Diniz being knocked on his head by Wurz in 1999, or Frentzen's brake failure).

Since the race was over 90% done and got red flagged, race control may as well have ended it there and declared the results as per the previous lap. Case in point, Brazil 2003 after the Alonso-Webber incident.
