Monaco Grand Prix 2012, Monte Carlo - Race 6/20

No it doesn't, for the reasons Weebull and DM have posted:

  • You can't rely on practice times
  • The pack is closer this season
  • JB is maintaining a consistent pace, it's just slower than those around him

well this is fundamentally wrong

IF practice tmes (p3) are as fast as qualifying (q1) for the leading teams - this means they CAN be relied upon (the track wouldnt get slower unless there was rain inbetween, whxch there wasnt)

Never said the pack wasnt closer

WHOSSSSSHHHHH

Every single run of every single car makes ANY track faster. More rubber put down over the weekend aids in the grip etc of any given car.

compared to a lot ofthe cars around him JB actually got slower given the track was getting faster (and the same goes for Vettel)

What was the track temperature difference between P3 and Qualifying?

1 - 2% was mentioned in the qualii commentary

Going back to your earlier post, what you're saying is that something is wrong (random) and it's causing JB to under perform.

It ISNT just that the teams are a lot closer (even though Im not questioning that, as they obviously are) there is something else much more deep than that which at the moment appears to be a random element of some kind imo.

What we're saying is, it doesn't appear to be that random, so either there's a fundamental problem with JB's setup, or he is the problem.

mclaren need to take note.

this is how its done.

big developments for merc in monaco that sky etc dont seem to have been aware of unless i missed something?
http://www.formula1.com/news/technical/2012/869/968.html

Mercedes were running a heavily revised, almost B-spec car in Monaco. In addition to the new nose and carbon gearbox case already seen in Barcelona, there were new, narrower sidepods, which have required the team to do fresh front, rear and side crash tests in the last month

looks to have been stationary for about 4 seconds using the pitlane timer numbers for alonso

stops about 6 and leaves at 10seconds

theres been fasster stops this year i think

2.4 in a race, nice!

There were reports that Williams managed to get stops down to under 2 seconds while practising a couple of years back.

I always liked DTM stops too. They try to lock the wheels up just as they stop so that the guys with the guns can get them on and start undoing the nut before the car is even stationary!

Could do with one of those outside the Mclaren garage should shave a good few seconds off of their stops.

Off topic (regarding MSc and the legality of his car, in 1994):

There were electronic driver aids. It was never mentioned, but I’m convinced and when I later asked Flavio Briatore he replied ‘Let’s not talk about it’. So I know enough now.

Like everyone else, Michael is also dependent on his car. For most people he was a god but he is not superman — in a go-kart he never beat me

He may have driven a dodgy car that year, but he was also stripped of 10 points for Spa and then banned for 2 races (which he almost certainly would've won). He then crashed into Hill, to win the title.

Sure, the 1994 title was tainted, but in 1995 he crushed the opposition.

Can you remove points once the race order has been made official? I thought teams had the window after the race finish and before the order is made official to place any complaints for that race.

If it was mclaren you can be sure there would have been some kind of penalty. One mclaren is short of fuel, after qualifying gets put to the back of the grid. The RB found to be ILLEGAL along with two race wins, nothing said. Absolutely crazy. Even crazier, why did the FIA even say it was legal in the first place. I will never understand how the FIA functions, but good thing they aren't running a country.
