Monaco Grand Prix 2012, Monte Carlo - Race 6/20

F1 car in reverse. Really don't see that much at all anymore.
Team won't like him using it though. Very fragile gear and can cause a few issues.

Wish the BBC commentator (forget his name, not algesuari) would shutup when the team radio comes on. He keeps trying to finish whatever he's talking about and he talks over half the radio message.

James Allen. He is only suited for practice sessions as he gets too ott during qually/race.

Not sure if it's been posted yet... Kimi's Monaco helmet is a cracker :D

Well, Fernandes did give up the rights that were purchased from said man, so it's not surprising that Genii\the team are advertising the Lotus heritage.

James never raced for Lotus, think the rights were actually purchased from his younger brother... Not sure how he got them.

Kimi has said before how he admires the 70's drivers like Hunt and used his name when entering other races. Guess it's a nice tribute, there's that film being made by Ron Howard to that could have something to do with the timing.

I saw Hunt and thought David rather than James, my bad.

Speaking of comparisons with the past, Schumacher said he couldn't have raced in Fangio's era and that the accomplishments weren't comparable.

Well it's not surprising really, don't think many will have heard of David Hunt (had to Google to find out his name :p)

Yea must be a world away from where we are now, it's different in almost every way.
It's refreshing to see modern F1 drivers get a chance to race the older cars and they almost always say how they'd love to be able to race them as it's all about the driving.

I know both, but I figured the Lotus connection = David Hunt, especially as I saw the 1994 season first time around, live. I was wrong and it was just something Kimi wanted on his car as a shout out to James.

They have, but only in pre-race parades IIRC.

Nobody commenting on the lap times?

Ferrari is showing consistency here (I'm more interested in Massa's time as this gives a truer indication of Ferrari's average pace). McLaren are clearly showing some pace as well. But look at Senna - after the spanking he took in the last race, he has taken another spanking in the practice sessions (fair enough - its only practice, but still Maldo is showing intent).

From what I can see, any one of 10 drivers can win this race, as the cars are all so close to one another. The winning driver will need to show much skill and have some good luck.

Alonso's form is just irresistible at the moment and I think its been a long time since I've seen a driver in such unbelievably good form. I'm genuinely awe-struck. Vettel was great in 2011 (for me, driver of the season). But Alonso is driving beyond anything I've seen in the last decade. So far this season, by far, Alonso has been untouchable.

I fancy Alonso to win this race with the McLarens and Vettel in the remaining top 4 positions. This year, I think driver skill is going to dictate the title (unlike previous seasons where the best car will always win the title).
