Monaco Grand Prix 2013, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

Rosberg must really be making people sit up and take notice this year. Especially considering one of the races he was behind Lewis was due to team orders.

I've always like NR, and it's actually nice to see him taking the fight to Lewis.. As he did with schumacher..

I think Lewis is still not comfortable with the car, but we'll see, I was quite surprised he was closer to Nico then in any practice session.

Hamilton and Rosberg could have done another fast lap, they crossed the line with less than 10 seconds left.
I noticed that too - they both backed off immediately even though they could have done another lap. Egg would have been all over their faces if the RBs had pipped them.

I guess saving a lap on the tyres for the race is more important ATM

I'm not so sure. He's always been quick over a single lap - he did the same thing at Williams in 2009 iirc where he had the fastest time in the majority of practise sessions. Yet he never seems to go anywhere in the race relative to where he probably should do. Hope we can see what he can do throughout the rest of this year when he clearly has a quick car.

As it's rained, the rubber levels on the track would have changed.

1 stopping may be more difficult now, but I reckon some will still try it. Tyres were lasting well on thursday.

JB's lost power during his final run?

No thats called Button's thinking "oh crap, everyones faster than me, better get on the radio and come up with an excuse so I can blame everyone else but me". No one, I mean no one complains more than him, every single race. Hamilton's rear suspension breaks, he gets on with it and puts in an outstanding performance, Button gets a runny nose does a bad lap and jumps on the radio saying his car was attacked a dinosoar as an excuse.

I didn't think Rosberg got across, he was significantly further back than Hamilton, who did get across and I wondered if it would be hilarious if he went around and nicked pole, but it looks like he backed out as well. Probably better to have second and a chance to be first into the first corner than do another hot lap and really reduce the life in the tyre.

Surprisingly good qually :p Shame JB couldn't get a second hot lap in, they weren't looking too bad going by Perez's time. Going to be a boring race for Massa at the back.. one stop?

I love your little jokes about JB and look forward to reading them as they give me such a huge laugh....ROFL

And following on from my epic prediction which came to fruition i also think both mercs will dnf tomorrow. First corner crash.

Fuel pump problem. You look clever now DM ;)

A slow car driven well can hold up any number of drivers. Just look at Heikki vs Button last year.

Except surely (especially at Monaco), Mercs will have to use their tyres more (weaving) so as to keep the RBR's behind them. RBR's can trundle around not using their tyres as much (because no one will be able to get past them either), and when the Merc's pit, RBR's do a few mega quick laps and jump them.

This will probably only work for 3rd to possibly 6th going up the hill, and everyone else will have to push and hope those ahead make a mistake, but Im not sure Alonso or the RBR's especially will be too worried about the Merc's

Martin Whitmarsh on JB:
"Jenson was disappointed to end up only ninth, disadvantaged as he was by a power loss that prevented him from essaying a final quick lap in Q3. We don’t yet know for certain what caused that power loss, but we’d already seen signs of it at the end of Q2. We’ll investigate. It was a pity because, as he always does at Monaco, Jenson had been driving really well. That being the case, I’m sure he could have qualified quite a bit closer to the front had he had another lap in which to do so."

Of course JB was lying when he said over the radio that he had some kind of power loss...
