Monaco Grand Prix 2015, Monte Carlo - Race 6/19

There is a clear issue with how boring Monaco is, both reddit, f1technical and here the race thread is half dead, probably like 90% less posts everywhere about Monaco. No one is really interested in it, it's a race fans simply don't enjoy.

Yes I like seeing a few hot laps, I like seeing them close to the wall but during races you get very few onboard shots, because of the style of track and having buildings in between you have constantly changing camera angles which is so much worse than in car angle. But ultimately for the race they won't be going the same speed, it will be comfortable pace, little to no overtaking and even if the result is unpredictable due to a few car failures it still won't be interesting.

It just doesn't work as a race, it's slightly better when in a regulation period with tires that let you go almost qualifying pace throughout, cars are more likely to push and make mistakes but you still can't easily overtake so still limited by how fast the guy in front wants to go rather than how fast you can go.

Maybe Monaco could be changed into a series of qualifying sessions instead, 3-4 over the weekend with average position determining points, breaking up the sessions slightly into smaller groups, something.

I'd like to see a fun race here, pro F1 drivers all in go karts around this track. Found old vids of Senna, Herbert, Mansell I think and others doing these go karting events, not on f1 tracks though. Just for a one off event seeing these guys playing around in equal go-karts on this tight track would be awesome.

No, as its a 1 stop race so he will use the Super Softs he set his Q2 time on (which he didn't flatten) and then a set of Softs.

Problem is that driving on street circuits is a lot more exciting. So the drivers will always want it.

The other problem is he's talking rubbish like normal.
It has near enough exactly the same number of posts as the Spanish gp at this time of the weekend. It's not live on BBC which has a big impact, it's also a bank Holliday weekend and is very nice outside.

Not true, it is only on SKY, it is a bank holiday weekend, and the weather improved for the first weekend this month. Everyone is doing other things. I couldn't follow it as I don't have F1HD on SKY. That's the main issue. Coupled with the robot taking pole again.
The one blip race that Vettel won, might be out only race of total excitement this year, we shall have to wait and see. Rosberg won't trouble the tax exile this season or any season until he gets his head on straight, and even then he may not have the talent to, and although Ferrari are trying, they are still not fully combatant with the Mercs.
That is F1 issue, Lewis winning might be great for the Lewis fans, but a mixed season is best for ratings.

Ted on fine form tonight on the notebook. Such a trainwreck.......advising the German family he met last year to go on YT to view the video of themselves from last year. PMSL.

it is a bit lame nowadays in general

I am a huge f1 fan, of to spa for the third year running.

I am also a huge lewis fan, he got me back into f1 in 2007...

Yet i find myself not bothered if i miss the race or quali, so much so i diddnt even know what time quali was today.

It has become very lame nowadays

Yup, was indeed in top fettle today.

Find his notebook clips more amusing than the expensive choreographed ideas they come up for the main show.

I was out and about today so was watching on sky go and as such couldn't post here at the same time.

I personally can't think of a worse place for a GP than Monaco. Well, maybe Silverstone...

It's time it was off the calendar, but will never happen as the teams love showing off to sponsors there.

Rosberg lives in Monaco too. As does Ricciardo. And Hulkenberg. And probably another dozen drivers. Does that make them all tax dodgers?

Qually is decent here, it's during and after the race people will start to remember how boring the race can be.

Think most agree race is dull and qually is pretty good

Don't know why we can't have 2 days of qually, fastest time for both days added and that's a win.
You'd probably want some twist on Sunday to differentiate it from Saturday.

Surely some form of this is better that pottering around the track at low speed for 90pc of the race?
