Monaco Grand Prix 2016, Monte Carlo - Race 6/21

Worst bit of starting behind the safety car is they trundle around for so long that the track dries out and as soon as the safety car comes in they follow it into the pits for intermediates.

Just makes me wonder whats the point of having the wet tyres.

The rain isn't that bad is it? It's a low speed track as well.

They'll still be doing 170-180mph out of the tunnel. I'm still expecting a load of spray, and that's a big problem on a narrow street circuit, as Fisichella will undoubtedly tell you.

The problem is how efficient the aero is - just look at the trail of smoke being flung into the air behind Nasr's car yesterday - all the water thrown up by the tyres is now turned into a fog by the car, which is what's different between now and 20 years back.

I agree there's little point to the full wets, as a full wet pretty much means unraceable much of the time. They might as well move the wets to be a half-way point between the wets and inters.

hopefully the rain doesn't cease for the majority of the race then, didn't brundle just say he'd heard heavy rain for an hour after 1pm?

race will start when the SC pits basically.

Its the floor thats the problem. Its flat and low which makes the cars float, and then the plank acts like a keel forcing the cars to go forwards regardless of input.

The tyres have little effect as they are offering little control.

Yup. The fact that the plank is lower than the floor causes a lot of issues.

If the floor was completely flat then there'd be less issues as they would run the car slightly higher in the wet, as they used to. Also the wet tyres raise the car slightly anyway as the diameter is larger due to the tread pattern.
