Which doesn't matter, when slow Vettel couldn't pass him. If Kimi stayed out for 5 laps then pitted him he'd have kept the lead. It doesn't matter if Vettel is 'quicker', it matters that they pitted them on different strategies. If Kimi pitted 5 laps later than Vettel pitted the lap after, it would be Kimi in the lead.

They need max points haul, kimi was backing Vettel into Bottas and verstappen.

Merc used Bottas to help Lewis in Spain, not any different to what Ferrari might have done today. Crofty might stop crying about it soon hopefully.

They didn't 'use' him, the race played out that his strategy was there. He was so slow on the tires they had put him onto a one stop, meaning they meant for him to stay out that long, Vettel caught him and it helped Hamilton. As Bottas said after the race, he had switched to a one stop and he was helping himself by holding up vettel but then his engine went. If he'd had good pace on the other tires and Vettel had to pit again they wouldn't have been too far back from him, I don't think it was really going to work out but they didn't just go hey, Bottas, drop 20 seconds back from Hamilton to hold up Vettel, Bottas was already that far back because his pace was so bad.

A, he wasn't at all, B, you can't pass here, backing people into anyone doesn't matter. Bottas and Verstappen showed immediately poor pace, it was immediately clear the undercut wasn't working and they were in zero danger from them at all.

They used Bottas to help Lewis win regardless of what you might say.

It's only race 6 of 20odd, it's nowt. Just frustrating Ferrari using back room team orders so early in the season..

If you lose the title by 6 points, then you will look back on this race and be extremely angry at themselves that they didn't do it. I have no real problem with it in this situation, Kimi is no where near and he won't be, he puts in less effort than every other driver, he's flat out bad at multiple race weekends a year, he signed up to be a number 2 for a huge salary. Ferrari did the right thing, it just irks a little.

Every race of the season counts, you can't go to the final 5 races then favour one driver, every single race result counts.

This race is genuinely ridiculous though, there has been, afaik, a single on track pass with Perez passing Stroll and unless I blinked, we didn't see it. One pass the entire race and they haven't shown it.
