Red Bull will have a difficult decision to make with Max at some point if he keeps this up.

His outright pace is obviously brilliant and he is up there with the best in sheer speed. But as a complete racing driver who might win a title? I'm not so sure. A few crashes may point to inexperience/immaturity, but a crash in every race so far this season may point to something more fundamentally damning to his ability to be a champion.

Yes, this. I think the decision to bring him into F1 so young and then promote him so quickly is increasingly looking questionable. He's no longer a newbie; he should have learnt how to behave in F1 by now and he hasn't. Causing the crash with Riccardo in Baku was probably the most glaring of his errors this season but the rest have been marked by an inability to properly predict and respect other drivers as well as a tendency to lose his head when he finds himself on the backfoot.

Now there are elements of this in some F1's current best drivers, but Max is far more guilty than others. If he doesn't show a dramatic improvement I wonder how long they will keep faith with him.

I wonder why Steve Jones said "this might be the last time I say welcome to the Monaco GP live, so let me say it again..."

Perhaps he's not presenting F1 next year and is moving on? They're losing the best presenter ever if that's the case.

I think the keyword was 'live'. CH 4 only showing highlights next year?

I assume it's more a reference to the fact that Sky have F1 exclusively next year - barring an agreement on a highlights package on terrestrial TV.

Verstappen reminds me of Gilles Villeneuve in a way. Some regard Villeneuve as a great, but to me he was inconsistent, not always quick, accident prone (including the one which cost him his life, and another that cost the lives of a spectator and a marshal) and ultimately only finished above 7th in the championship once (1979 when he was 2nd to his more consistent team-mate, and only 7 points (10 without dropped scores) ahead of Alan Jones who retired from 7 of the 15 races to Villeneuve's 3 retirements!).

Verstappen has got some of the Villeneuve's flair, he too is capable of occasional brilliance, but he's got all of the numerous flaws that Villeneuve had.

He's not going anywhere as Red Bull won't want him to move to a rival team and come back to haunt them, and they won't want to reign in that flair that is his one real quality (he's not blisteringly quick all of the time, and he's not consistent at the moment) but they do need him to have a solid few races to show he can do it.

He should have been challenging for the title this season, but with costly mistakes or incidents on every weekend so far (he was lucky in Barcelona) he's 62 points behind Hamilton after only 5 races and, barring a truly extraordinary race or bad luck on Hamilton's part, that gap will grow considerably more today.

Well that sucks. I don't have Sky and don't mind watching highlights which is the majority of C4 coverage, but to have no live terrestial coverage at all will be crap.
