Monday build!!

I'm overall very pleased. I was going to let this thread die once it was up and running, but I think I'll ask for it to be moved to project logs after all :)

Again, a massive thank you to all those who've had an input, I genuinely appreciated every comment, especially when I was getting stressed early on!

Anything I would have changed or done differently??

Hmmmm... Quite fancy water cooling now :p
Wish I'd got a second SSD instead of a mechanical one, but that's easily added later.
Think I'll get a 250GB one for a Steam drive.
Absolutely think I need a bigger screen now, 27" I think :)
Can't think of anything else... Can't wait to give Shogun TW2 or CoH a bash tomorrow :D

I hope this thread has been of use/interest to people :)

Future threads include:-

'Monday Overclocking' followed by 'Bloody hell I blew it up!!'
'Monday Watercooling' followed by 'Bloody hell I flooded it!!'
'Check out my 1337 gaming rig' followed by 'Hmmpf! Why isn't my FPS as high as everyone elses?! :('
And in about three years you can all look forward to another 'Monday build' :D

Very minor update....

Been on all night (not doing anything, just downloading from Steam), but the CPU temp is currently 26c, so I guess the cooler is alright huh :)
It is telling me that my PCH temp is 53c though and that's apparently high....
So this leads to two obvious question:-

1) What on earth is a PCH?
2)Why is is too hot when I'm not doing anything?!

EDIT: Apparently it's a Platform Control Hub, which is some sort of regulatory chip... The prevailing opinion is "They all run hot, don't worry about it!" :p

New confusion!!

Windows updated fully, graphics drivers up to date, yet I't apparently running DX10??

Any ideas?

Out of interest you did set the sata mode to ACHI before you installed the OS to the SSD?

If you have installed a new game then directx11 would be installed along with it. Don't believe everything you see. When you start overclocking the system panel in the control panel will often tell porkies as to what the CPU is clocked at and it's common for sensors to read voltages and temps incorrectly too

Erm..... No  (I assume this is via the BIOS?)

Should I have? And what are the benefits of doing so?

Going to invest in a second Steam SSD anyway, so I might give the whole thing a re-jig soon. Wouldn't have a problem reformatting if needed....

It's now where it lives :)

And with the sofa so I can sit comfortably while gaming....

Edit: apologies, iPhone pics suck, but you get the idea :)

2nd Edit: The Boogie Bug 'gaming surface' that came gratis with the mobo is insanely huge!

Next up, 27 inch 120hz monitor (not sure if I'm bothered about 3D really... Should I be??).
Additional SSD dedicated to Steam.
A couple more 200mm fans....

With the fans, I'm not sure whether to get blue LED ones or not? The pre installed 200mm on top has blue LED's, but the lights can be switched on and off via a button on the rear of the case. (nice touch NZXT :))
If it's possible to set the new fans (2nd top fan and additional side fan) up in the same way so I can turn the LED's off then great. If that's not possible then I don't think I'll bother and just get standards.

Then I'm out of things to do to it unless there are any suggestions??

Maybe move on to a MAME build cannibalising my old rig
