Aparantly they are all made of cheese :D , look for any repair bills or replacement bills, as when replaced they are done with much better, stronger ones.

Now that you've mentioned it, it does look quite high.

Any owners know if this is normal? looks like it needs 18's :D

Needs big rims....looks wierd with those small wheels

My next car is similar in colour to that. It's currently sitting round the back of the house waiting for me to do a few last bits and pieces to it :) . Started out as a very neglected looking P reg 2.0Si, had a broken front bumper, dented nearside front wing, and dents all down the nearside of the car as though somebody had hit something and run the car along it. I got the front and rear bumper, side skirts and grill (all original Ford) and a boot spoiler off of eBay, fitted a second hand wing and the bodykit, repaired all the dents, scratches and stone chips on the bonnet and sprayed it all to match. Got a leather interior for it as well. It didn't cost me anything to paint it, just the price of paint and materials as I did it all myself (my dad and I used to have a garage/sprayshop before we closed it down before Christmas). In normal circumstances it probably wouldn't have been worth doing, but the car cost hardly anything and I haven't had to pay out for the work to be done, so it was worth it to me. It'll replace my standard R Reg ST24 when it's done (I find it too heavy on petrol really).

Looks good :)

Although, is it just my eyes or is the rear quarter panel a little dull?
Thanks :) . The car is a bit dirty from where it's been sitting and also I think there's still a bit of compound on it from the second time I went over it, but I must admit in one or two places the lacquer didn't come out quite as well as i'd liked. To be honest I didn't have the time to do it again, as we were closing the garage and moving stuff, but I might do it again in the future when we're sorted out (as we're moving house soon also). Saying that, when it's all polished up it looks alright. :)

Ahhh, gotya.

Yeah I'm sure a few applications of rubbing compound will sort it out.

Just out of interest, why did you close the garage down? Was it due to lack of work coming in?

No, not really, although our customer base had dwindled a little bit, mostly due to companies closed down we had contracts with, people retired (or passed away), or just people who had moved out of the area. Saying that, we still had a fair few customers and regular work. The main reason is my dad had been in the business for 36 years, it was a partnership between him and his brother. His brother retired and moved away to the south coast a couple of years ago (I went and took his place), and my dad's always wanted to live down the west country (Cornwall) since he was a kid, and has been talking about it for years, so he thought if he didn't do it soon then he'll never get there! :) That and he was sick of cars anyway!

tb2000 do you still have the st24s bumpers? I really need to find rsap and skirts in my red, but they just dont seem to come up :(

Sorry Tom, my ST24 is the non-RSAP kitted version in State Blue. I've seen them occasionally on eBay, but I must admit they're quite rare. I got mine for £200 for the front and rear bumpers with the mesh included, £50 for the skirts, about £30 for the grille and £50 for the spoiler. With postage the lot probably came to around £375-380ish. Sounds a lot at first but I think you'd be hard pushed to find a genuine Ford RSAP bodykit (apart from the spoiler, that was aftermrket but a suprisingly good quality item) for less than that. :)

I may as well ask this here:

How common/how much is the RSAP kit and will I have problems getting it for different coloured mondeos?

What is the difference between Ghia and GhiaX?

Is the 2.0 worth getting over the 1.8?

I have a budget of 1500 but can go higher by about 300 if I have to. Is a 1999/2000 2.0 Ghia X out of my range?

What's considered good mileage on these?

Thanks guys :)

Ghia X adds leather, cruise, onboard computer, heated seats, alloys over the Ghia. Jul 99 onwards Ghia's gained alloys, cruise and computer.

RSAP costs about £400-£700 to add yourself, RSAP kitted Ghia X's as standard DO exist but are VERY rare and most are automatic V6's.

2.0 is definately worth getting over the 1.8, hardly any more thirsty, but better suited to the car.

You should get a nice one for that sort of money, I doubt my 99 Ghia X RSAP is worth any more than that.

Top man!

Only the mileage and colour of the RSAP kit left to be answered :)

Thanks fox.

Whats the LX model?

One up from bottom of the range. Only real has the bare essentials - electric front windows, PAS, remote locking and air conditioning/CD player on Feb 98 onwards models. Black plastic bumpstrips, black plastic handles and most are in exciting solid paint colours. Again, no real reason to go for one of these given the prices of the higher spec models.
