Alright guys, looking at some mondeo's as my first car maybe as you can pick them up for under £500 and i don't really want to go over that, i was just wondering do they do a 1.6 mondeo? and would it be under powered?

Just done a quote with my dad as main driver and me as 2nd driver and its £1,282.11 a year. Not that bad but i was hoping for under a grand, i have done quotes on some 306's etc but if i can get a mondeo on cheap insurance i will look in to 1 of those, as i really do hate small cars. also i don't want a focus, as all my mates have those now.Ta

Its your car not his so you can't do that.

here we go

its a £500 car, who gives a stuff i know literally hundreds of people who front, i did it when i was 17.

do not buy a 1.6 mondeo get a 2.0 or don't bother

i will be putting my dad under the owner of the car, so he " owns it " but i wil be driving it.

The insurance "main driver" needs to be the main driver. This is fine if you're sharing the car, but if it's really your car, and your dad has another car he uses all the time it'll be BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS to ** insurers you're fronting

wish i still had my escort... she quit :(

how about a fiesta 1.4 16v they are nippy as
I don't like small cars mate.

Other than the fact it's not by any stretch of the imagination 'fast' in what way is it not a good car? It's far better value than a Focus and has a better interior.

I don't want a powerful car, i just want a car to get me to A to B with out costing me a bomb, and maybe a little bit of power just incase, i get my self stuck and need that extra bit of power to get my self out of the way.

Debateable. The MK2 Mondeo interior feels no better than my Focus. It's the same sort of kit in essence. The same sort of seats, the same sort of cheap nasty Ford plastic.

A £500 clapped out ancient 1.6 Mondeo will be nasty. If we were talking 2.0 Mondeo MK3's then I would completely agree with you

The Focus also looks ten times better but this is subject to personal opinion :)

Ok well, really you shouldn't put your dad as the registered keeper with yourself as the driver as that is called fronting, but...

I wil be doing what most 17's year olds are doing, going on there dad's insurance til they can afford there own insurance, i will be setting up my own policy but my dad will be the proposer and i will be the Additional driver.

Nothing wrong the the Focus materials, I was more refering to the fact the interior was designed after a fight with a set square.

I had a lift in my mates 700 quid Mondeo Zetec yesterday. It was as nice, if not better, than your many thousand pound Focus, frankly. The only thing your Focus would have been better at is shedding value and handling.

Arrrgg can a mod pleeese change the thread title it's doing my nut in.

ahem...
