Any ideas on tube/fluid colours?

Bold! I like this kind of thinking.

I was looking at having the tubing be a bright contrast to the sea of black boxes though. Was thinking bright green tubes and white pastel maybe. Perhaps both UV with some UV leds/cathodes. Might be a bit much though.

Btw, the gpu to res tube will be going back to the curved shape in the original 240/240 incarnation.
Not sure if I'll keep the current straight res to pump line or go back to the slight curve.

Argh... I'm finding it difficult to settle on this tubing/fluid thing.

After a bit of consideration, I'm liking the black tubing/chrome fittings with either white or clear fluid idea a lot more. Problem is, opaque tubing means that you can't see any air bubbles and I had a bit of a task with bleeding the 360 rad last time. Clear tubing helped a lot with that.

Normally I'm not a fan of black tubing, but if it's done right, it can be rather tasty.
This guy has a very similar layout/colour scheme to mine, albeit in a smaller case and it looks great:

On the other hand, green UV tubing with white fluid/black fittings and a couple of UV cathodes could look sweet, if a little 90's/early 2000's if you know what I mean ;)
I'd be blacking out any of the visible blue pci slots in either case.

So, safe, clean and classy looking option with a little more effort to bleed, or take a chance on what could end up looking either garish or awesome?

Oh, and apart from the res, I'm not really looking to illuminate the interior as there's nothing to show but an utterly un-pimpworthy mobo.
Also, there will be a big window on the panel soon.

Here's an idea, not sure if it would work though, can you get spray paint that will stick to tubing? Acrylic?
If so clear tubing, wrap electrical insulation tape round in a spiral down the tube, spray black and use white fluid, would look the biz if it worked, or is it just me??

Not sure I'd need any paint as the tape does fine by itself.

It'd look like a liquorice allsort rig, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Edit. Thinner tape may be better, to stop it looking like a candy cane!
 
Yeah, just wrapped some tape on a spare bit of tubing and there you go :)

Could look even better with narrower tape, say half the width in a tighter spiral?
 
You're right. I was thinking the same thing.
Right now, the only real colour comes from the ram leds.

It's gonna be a fine balance to get this done right without looking too tacky. I also wouldn't want it to look like an anti kink coil as I think they look terrible. (no offence to anyone :))
 
Just tried it with a tighter spiral showing only around 3-4mm of tubing. It looks a lot better and means the tubing is almost all black.
It kinda matches the led slats on the ram. Perhaps a hint of Alien exoskeleton about it too :D

Think I might give it a whirl and leave the coolant clear. The glass of milk look with the res doesn't work for me.

Edit: Tried a few variations including a couple of thin strips in a nice spiral and while they looked good on the tube, they didn't look so hot in the case.
It makes it look a little too busy I think.
Screw it, gonna go with black tubing/clear fluid/chrome fittings and take extra care with bleeding that big sucker :)

And god help my squealing wallet... I have all kinds of concept ideas to send to Coldzero. Where will it end? :rolleyes:

Lol, I ended up ordering both the green and the black tubing coz it'll bug me if I can't see how each would look :p :o

What will it be? Black tubes and chrome fittings or green tubes and black fittings?
Will Petey totally chav out, or will he regain some class?

I say green tube and black fittings (would be my choice)

I'll be joining the monsta club soon with a 240 monsta cooling my CPU, be my first attempt water cooling and I can't wait!
 
I'm thinking it'll probably go that way. The black n chrome would be cool and understated, but the green n black would pop nicely. Well, hopefully anyway.

M-M-M-M-MONSTAAA CLUUUUUUB!

Seriously, we need a theme tune or something :D

Btw, my other 240 will be on the MM soon. Just a heads up :)

Those fat rads, look...erm...rad!

If your going with that tubing, Green and black seem ike an interesting combo, let's see what it has to offer.
