Exactly what I do, keep my Natwest account for deposits - Starling for pretty much everything else. You could still leave your nationwide account open if there's a branch local and just use it for the odd deposit and transfer it over?

If I go through the process to transfer my account, doesn’t the old one get closed automatically?

I have revolut but seeing a few posts about concerns. Are people recommending Monzo instead?

Just had an email stating Starling will soon be rolling out in app cheque cashing so no need to post it to them anymore on that rare occasion some company sends you a cheque rather than operating in the 21st century and just bank transferring what they owe you.
I was quite surprised this wasn't a feature from the off considering some other banks have offered it for a while.
As a reminder, avoid Revolut:
In the interest of openness, I am a Monzo shareholder.
Yep it's all automatic in my experience and I've done 3 so far.How does the switch service work for salary payments? Do they tell the employer your new bank account details? Usually I'd have to fill out a change of details form at work if I have changed address or bank etc.
Yeah I've done 2 switches now, although I did give my employer a heads up regarding the change of account - not worth risking not getting paidYep it's all automatic in my experience and I've done 3 so far.
@Feek Don't overlook starling They are also doing some good things. you won't go far wrong with either though to be honest.
Both Monzo and Starling are still crap as they still do not allow export of statement data in OFX and even then its pain to get at from the app for a CSV file.
I only use starling when i need cash from a cashpoint or the pub, load it via a proper banks app.
