Monzo/Starling Banking/Revolut

Not Starling, Monzo or Revolut etc.. but HSBC is closing its Zing multi currency account after just a year. Shame as it was better than Revolut or Wise for popular currencies and basic exchanges.

This is what happens when traditional banks play with digital. Reminds me of RBS closing 'Bo' and leaving its customers in the lurch.

This is interesting, Payz who are an e-money card have a UK issued Discover / Diners Club card so I got myself one as I thought that's cool. Tried it the other day online to renew a domain name and it worked, although Amazon doesn't seem to want to add it to my payment methods.

How was it different to their global money card?

I have my credit card direct debit taken from a Chase savings account. They all have individual sort codes and account numbers. They are more handy than Starling Spaces in my opinion and make interest too.
Shame you can't have a card for each account.
I have a bills account that my card is used for for those bills that are a recurring debit card payment.
But Id like a card for use with the main account as well.

It was more like a Revolut and Wise i.e. a multi currency card rather than the Global Money account (GMA). Unlike the GMA it was open to everyone not just HSBC members. You could send and receive payments. The GMA didn't allow to you receive payments.

The GMA has HSBCs own exchange rate, plus a premium on weekends. Zing was more upfront on the costs, with 0.2% exchange fee, and no transfer fees.

Just seen in my Chase app they're changing the 1% cashback from next month to only cover Groceries/transport (public transport or fuel/electric). Means it's now of no use to me unfortunately.

It's a shame that how they keep changing things at Chase. Looks like I will start to use a different card for spending now.

I stopped using mine a while ago, pretty much all in with the RBS debit card which now does x5 round ups to a 6% savings account.

I can't stand Chase's purposely vague emails. After reading the email about cashback changing, I was non the wiser about what was actually changing.

The email says it will outline the changes, but rather it just performs smoke and mirrors.

It would have been much clearer if they said "We're reducing the categories you'll be able to earn 1% on, and now you'll only be able to earn cash back on groceries, everyday transport and fuel".

I'll probably look at changing now this has reduced and their savings interest isn't competitive.

I don't know what email you're reading but that's exactly what it says

That category change also massively reduces it's useful to me too. Oh well, may as well just use something with a more useful interface - but that RBS account someone mentioned above sounds interesting.

I see how it goes. Get to #1 in terms of digital banking, then start dropping all the incentives that got you there.

It's a bit like their refer a friend. They used it to grow fast (too fast), and I don't think there's been a refer incentive since.

Kroo did the same.

Yeah, I had to re read it a few times. Now no longer an option for me either.

No it doesn't, it's not explicit at all about what's changing. At best, it tells you what you're continuing to earn cashback on.

"We’ve outlined the changes below."

Let's break it down:
From the 7th April, you'll be able to earn up to £15 on cash back. That hasn't changed

I'll be able to earn cashback on groceries - that hasn't changed.
I'll be able to earn cashback on transport - that hasn't changed
I'll be able to earn on fuel - that hasn't changed

So really, they've not outlined the changes. They've purposely made it vague so you have to remember you were earning cashback on everything except some exceptions before.

Outlining the changes in a clear, honest and upfront way would have been: We're reducing what you can earn cashback on. You can now only earn cash back on groceries, travel and fuel versus previously earning cashback on all spend with the exceptions of x, y and z

Anyone with Chase using multiple accounts, in having an issue where my "Bills" Scooby's direct debits are getting duplicated across to my main account, happened yesterday so deleted the duplicates and they've popped back again this morning.

Chase customer service are like robots and frankly really putting me off chase they're adamant it's not there doing but I argue that how can 5 different merchants all setup direct debits to an account they no nothing about at the exact same time.
And I just keep doing round in circles to them copy and pasting how to delete a direct debit. I don't want the money going out of the main account.
