More failed Ballistix...Check it...

You cannot fault the service of them selling dodgy ram that has a massive fail rate? You clearly are easily pleased.

Do you know why their RMA service is so good? Its because they have had enough practice to get it pretty much perfect...

I'm in a similar boat with my set.
To rule out the posibility that it may be my Opteron and it's memory controller I also put them into my P4 system. That would freeze during post with both sticks in so I couldn't even get to test them.

Put one in at a time and the system appears to be fine but they just won't work properly as a pair.

RMA !

I think if either stick goes wrong again, i'll get a refund.

I got the replacement 1GB stick this morning, and now im back to 2GB again! I cant believe how much a difference it makes.

I only run them @ 2.6V at the moment as im not overclocking, in fact Im underclocking, as they are running @ 200/200.

Only thing I did was change them from 8-3-3-3 to 5-2-2-2 and its running great :D

It's been a gradual thing with mine. They were running great in December when they had just been replaced. But slowly they have worsened. Lost dual channel with them and then the max speed slowly dropped. Now they are running Memtest at 200Mhz 3-3-3-8 SINGLE channel and still failing !

Yep, when it was working it was nice and quick, shame it doesn't last.

Seems to be 1 stick that is 'more' faulty than the other.

I'll see if Memtest can run with them in dual channel !

I now have my Crucial RMA number so they will be going 'home' soon.

i thought they'd run out of 1gb sticks cos they stopped making them? i heard (on this forum) that they were gonna start replacing faulty sticks with 4x512mb ones. i think mine are dying (again) they wouldn't run at 200mhz 3-3-3-8 1t 2.6v altough they ran at the stated specs of 250mhz 3-4-4-8 2t 2.8v. if they fail this time i'm gonna get a refund off ocuk and buy some that last longer than 4-5 months

Wht sets have all of you's got? Mines the Z503 and cannot fault it, Excellent clocker at low volts. See my above post^^

Mine were Z503's. :(

Currently running with a mismatched pair of 512mb modules. 1 PC2700 and 1 PC3200. 100% stable @ 183 2.5-6-3-3-1T. CPU clock is now back upto 2740Mhz (274x10) after being flaky at most settings.

*Note the 1T, never ever been 100% stable using the Ballistix with 1T in this board.

Faulty information, I RMA'd mine just the other week and got two 1gb Tracer Ballistix sticks.

Also worth noting that I couldnt get a refund when I asked because I had them too long. (bought direct from Crucial)

Just a follow up post to keep this thread upto date.

RMA'd my faulty sticks last Friday. Had 2 new sticks returned on Thursday this week. Not bad as I only posted them late Friday and they went nowhere over the weekend. Was kept informed via email of the RMA progress too.

Sent away 2x1Gb BL12864Z503.16TD

Returned 2x1Gb BL12864Z503.16TD1

Running at 280Mhz 2.7v 8-4-4-2T Dual Channel straight out of the box and they have passed a couple of hours of Memtest at this speed.

Have to see how long it is before they show signs of failure again (hopefully they won't).

get a refund and buy some more reliable modules, crucial are supposed to be just about the best for ram, i use mushkin redline stuff and its the best ram i have ever owned, fast as hell and so far 100% reliable, don't forget OCZ as well, i hear there good

My Ballistix may be failing too. I was able to run at the speed in my sig for over a year but now the RAM has to run at SPD timings at 200Mhz in order to pass SP2004 for over 3 minutes. All my games seem to crash now as soon as the maps have been loaded too.

I have left my computer running SP2004 all of today whilst I am at work at completely stock timings but I will also run memtest at the earliest opportunity.

Ballistix does get awfully hot, even at stock voltages. I recently installed an Arctic Freezer 64 Pro to replace my original Freezer 64. Given the orientation of the fan, which now draws air directly over the RAM it doesn't seem to have helped at all.

Well, it turns out that SP2004 failed after just over 2 hours with everything at stock. I definitely have a problem somewhere. I also picked up a multimeter yesterday to check how my voltages are to see if this may be a problem but everything is stable. I'm now pretty sure it's the RAM that's failing so I've downloaded Memtest and will run it this evening when I get home. However, I did leave my computer running S&M's memory test on a loop so I guess I'll see that that's failed when I get home. Memtest should give confirmation.

I will then have to return the RAM to Crucial. Does anyone have experience of what their returns are? My RAM is about 14 months old, I assume it's still under warranty?
