More Licence changes for 2013

One question. Why do the government want to get rid of motorcycles on the road? Cheaper petrol and tax for them? (in most cases at least) And the government can't make as much money from them. Or is it just more censorship in the fact that, it's fun and therefore not good for us. Enlighten me so I can feel the rage as I'll be one of the people taking probably the full force of this, law.

Common sense would say that, should somebody pass their test this year, they carry on with the current regulations (33bhp for 2 years).

I'd be amazed if people who are already working through the current system were affected, but it also wouldn't massively shock me unfortunately :(

I took mine in 1988, so this will not affect me. I do feel sorry for those who wish to take up riding bikes.
This will no doubt push a lot of the instruction companies over the edge as well, due to people thinking it will be too much hassle/cost to train and pass a test.

It's such rubbish that this government / EU come up... Do any other bikers feel targeted constantly!?

I do feel sorry for the kids who are currently 16 years old who have grown up around bikes like I did and cannot wait until they can get their licence. There is now a much longer wait / many more hoops to jump through... and I only did my Direct Access 4 years ago.

Sad times.

Thats just the tip of the iceberg I'm afraid.

There is draft EU legislation doing the rounds that would make ANY modifications to your bike illegal

Now you can feel like you are being targeted

Jesus! That is silly! I passed my test in March of 2009, I did my CBT, DAS 1 and 2 in the same week in february but failed my practical due to putting foot down on the u turn (school boy). Took the test again (DAS 2) in March and passed with flying colours.

I bought a Ducati 748E (yellow) in September 2008 to spur me on for my licence. I rode this for a while, then sold to buy a Ducati 748S (red), which I still own. And I have recently just bought a Ducati 1098S to keep the 748S company. I am turning 24 in a few weeks...

I condisder myself a ok'ish rider. But I never owned a scooter, 125 or anything of the like. I have been around bikes all my life thanks to my dad.

Dukes at 24, whats your insurance like?

Pretty pants, the 748 was costing £34 a month, and the 1098S is like £98 a month :(

No longer have the 748 insured as I want to track it only. Both on TPFT.

So yes, it hurts, but it costs nothing compared to the smile the girls give me :D

O/T: my insurance on my 10R is £1,100 (Full comp and i'm 24) but when I turn 25 in 4 months it drops to £500... how silly is that. 25 years of age seems to be a huge milestone in terms of insurance.

Yea, not wise in the slightest going TPFT, however, it was £2200+ for fully comp on the 1098S (08), however, the 748 was like 5 quid difference per month for fully comp. Never bothered as I knew I would buy a new bike in the winter sometime last year.

And yes, the <25 age price is silly! I had one accident, I was sat at some traffic lights, minding my own business, next thing I know I have a BMW so far up my arse I am coughing up a BMW badge. Light was red, driver accepted full responsability, was on the phone and also said "I didn't see you"...

How, on earth can anyone not see a bright red motorbike making more noise than thunder? lol

That's what I am wondering too, I am 25 in March, but looking to get a new bike before then, going to run some quotes and if its massively cheaper will look at getting some temporary cover for a few months.

There will be a jump mate, a big one at that.

Ah, the joys of being above 40 and full no claims.
Insurance on the GSXR750 was only just over £100 this year, then after cashback it worked out at approx £70 F/C.

I'm 24, just passed my test and my insurance on my CB500 is £79 tpft for the year, bring on 25 :D

I passed my restricted license in febuary last year, meaning in febuary 2013 I should no longer be restricted. I assume this legislation wont change that?

I'm 17 and done my CBT last year so I want to get my full test donw in the next month limiting me for 2 years, if I do that this year does it change anything for me?
