I really can't recall never being able to sign into Live.
I can. There's been a few times when Live has been down.

a few times in 10 years? oh noes![]()
I hope they have good firewalls & DDOS protection, imagine the fallout whenever their servers get attacked. Sony will probably hire Anonymous.![]()
a few times is more than enough for a console that always wants an always on connection.
People have tried and failed, the security on the 360 has been second to none.
UPDATE: Microsoft has issued a formal apology for "the inappropriate comments" of Microsoft Studios creative director Adam Orth in relation to his recent 'always-online' Twitter debate.
"We apologize for the inappropriate comments made by an employee on Twitter yesterday," said the platform holder in a new statement.
"This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and his personal views do not reflect the customer centric approach we take to our products or how we would communicate directly with our loyal consumers. We are very sorry if this offended anyone, however we have not made any announcements about our product roadmap, and have no further comment on this matter."
Yeah totally agree I am deffo not buying one just in case it goes down for 5 mins once a year, that will show them![]()
There's no need to be facetious; whether you've experienced it or not, Xbox Live does go down every so often and it's not just for 5 minutes at a time.
Which is acceptable, as long as your console doesn't rely solely on that service being there in order for it to function.
Do you have a list of times it's gone down and for how long?
Lol, so die hard in defending something that you would become annoyed at if it occurred anyway.
Once is enough, its only mildly acceptable today because...we can actually play our games, get this...offline.
We all have the right to a service that is promised to us, the unfortunate thing for Microsoft is that their crappy EULAs have never been tested in court in Europe, in fact Europe puts Digital Consumer Rights above them. ( The US has seen some action with these agreements, but even there its contested that they even have any power at all)
So if they ever went down, they would be going into a world of hurt, that i would love to see.

No. I'm sure there's one out there though, feel free to look for it.
I don't think that Microsoft really cares about smart peoples opinion anyway. regardless of what it has people will still buy it.
