Morrowind 2011

Let me guess, someone finally decided to use a lot of mods for a complilation & didn't bother asking every single mod creator their name, telephone number, website, email, shoe size and marital status beforehand so now all the toys have been thrown out the pram.

I remember reading the Oblivion thread, there was a few egotistical modders demanding their name in capital letters in a unskippable cutscene then about 20 more jumped on the band wagon. All of a sudden...drama!

You made a mod...people are now using your mod - what's the issue?

I love how they act as if they have copyright over it, when in fact they are modifying content owned and distributed by Bethesda. As I've said on Reddit, I wouldn't have bothered with their mods before this compilation. Its free publicity.

Edit: Reminds me, need to sign up to Rage3D and get the password for that awesome mod pack.

He's never claimed as his own and they're shouting and screaming "plagiarism" at the poor guy.

Funny thing is, I'm pretty sure most of them havn't paid a copyright fee and it isn't they're intellectual property so they really do need to chase themselves.

As the owner rightfully said, does that mean they hold copyright over Youtube videos that feature their mods? Where does it stop?

Its not an issue of copyright in my books just sheer etiquette and politeness of general modding community. If you are going to reuse or even simply republish another modder's work, unless they've already said it, you should ask before you do anything with it.

I agree, but at the same time their reaction was completely out of order. I know some people have had a go at the way the compiler handled the aftermath but if the community had spoken to him properly I think this could have been resolved.

The sad thing is compendiums like this usually get the mod authors a lot of exposure that they might not have done otherwise (for example, I've never used any Morrowind mods, but I might use this one).

If only its gameplay was more simplified i.e minimum controls and easy stuff i would probably get this. I really am getting old lol

RPG's just seem to get more complex more and more these days which is a shame as i liked dungeon siege with its behind the scenes leveling system which i loved. Shame no one has gone futher with the idea to simplify a rpg so you dont have to mess about thinking about leveling or spells or inventory as much.

I don't know how true this is for Morrowind, but I found Oblivion very easy to pick up, without even a cursory nod to giving a toss about levelling etc. Have you tried Oblivion at all? If Morrowind is anything like Oblivion, then it breaks you in gently and really isn't anyhting to worry about as I myself found out (I was convinced it'd be a PITA to get into, but it wasn't TBH).

I'm sure someone else more qualified will be able to fill you in better/more specifically to Morrowind.

Oblivion is a good example of a game that may seem slightly daunting at first (like many RPGs) but you just have to give it a couple of hours and then see how you feel after that, as it's the sort of that that you can play (first time) without worrying too much about leveling due to the system it uses. Although the mechanics are a bit strange in terms of how if you are the sort of person that wants to 'optimise' a character you have to choose skills in a non-intuitive way i.e. make sure your major skills are the ones you plan on using the least to ensure that you've levelled minor skills enough by the time you level up.

I have to have this.

I've wanted to replay morrowind for ages, but never figured out how to get the graphics mods correctly working. This seems to be easy, except for the 4 Gb download :(

Very nice step by step instructions.

Looks like the link is down at the moment, doh wish i had grabbed this earlier.

Search "Morrowind 2011 Dead" on Reddit.com and you'll find a link to the torrent. Think there are some download links too. I would link the site but there is a fair bit of bad language there.
