Morrowind 2011

Dammit, the online setup guide has been taken down. Anyone have an offline version they can post here or possibly send me? Wanna make sure I install this correctly.

I hope Morrowind is similar, I'm sure it will be.

The majority of players found oblivion to be vastly inferior to morrowind as did I. I played morrowind solidly for about 2-3 years, and never completed the main quest, nor got to the expansions or tried playing as a vampire or werewolf.

There was so much to do, so many places to go to that the content was beyond bewildering. With oblivion came a major dumbing down of the great system that morrowind had - map travel, enemy / loot scaling, training per level cap, and an overall less genuine RPG feeling to the game. I got bored of Oblivion in about 2 months, and after that purely only played it after modding the game like crazy. I still never felt completely into the game though.

Seems that someone (at least claiming to be Tyler Smith - the original author) has started a new website for the mod, including the promise of a new 'lighter but better looking version'. Also contains the guide to installing the old one, plus a few fixes for stuff (including a 'Starting Area bug fix' which I think refers to the crash at the start of the game which I've heard of quite a few people experiencing). Also has a link to the download on Fileplanet, but not the torrent. Mysterious.

I can guarantee that if they did an online TES, it would likely be ****, but I like to dream. Have done since first stepping off the boat all those years ago, stealing that stupid elves ring from a tree :P

Excuse me sir, but if you remember correctly, the ring was in the barrel in the little outside corridor before you reach the main environment. :)
:o

I tried Morrowind 2011, installed it and followed the guide word for word.

Initially all seemed fine until i entered the first building to be greeted by graphical corruption :/

Ah well, i'll just stick to Oblivion for now

I tried following the instructions and got up to the distant land creation bit, but it wouldnt detect the installed ESM files in the data folder even though they are definitely in there :(

Oh cool, it works now, I just had to activate the .esm files that couldnt be found by the graphics extendor first.

Now I need to figure out how to get 1920x1200 resolution to work, MGE cant read the resolution registry files or something.

Hmmm, I quickly loose patientce with mods that are a pain in the ass to install.

I've never played Morrowing previouslly, so guess I'll try it in it's original form at first, see what it looks like.

:o

But then he puts it in a tree and you steal it along with 300 gold for a quest in Seyda Neen :p

I always found Morrowind more interesting a setting than Oblivion ever was. MW was one of Bethesda's better moments. The world design was very unique and immersive, mysterious even. OB was just carbon copy high fantasy which has been done to death.

The only thing with this mod is it kinda ruins the whole feel of MW with trees etc that just don't fit in. Its as if someone has tried to turn it into OB. Still, it is impressive all the same from a technical standpoint. Considering how old MW is...

Please excuse my stupid question but is this a mod only for the GOTY version? Or can i install it over Morrowind only without the expansions?

It says it needs morrowind, tribunal and bloodmoon all fully patched to work it.

I made a High elf Atronach this time. I always used to play Dunmers when I first got morrowind and I liked it for RP reasons since morrowind was the dunmer homeland. Then I played Breton mages exclusively in Oblivion while reading about how OP atronach was in morrowind with using summons to replenish magicka, so now I'm trying it.

270 magicka at level 1, 450 at lvl 20 to play about with. Its definitely not something you would want to try for a first character though.

With morrowind 2011 i don't know if this is normal but i get like 20 fps lol

Thats on a 5870 and amd 955 @3.8 1080 monitor

What fps you guys getting with that mod ?

Alright, installed yesterday and all working. The instructions were extreamly lengthy and must be followed to the letter, but the guide was very well written and of great help. The game is excellent, just getting into it. I want to thank the author of this thread as I never would have bought Morrowind without seeing this, and for everyone else who helped.
