Should i buy oblivion as soon as its out or finish morrowind first?

Sadly i never got very far in morrowind and kept restarting for various reasons, i want to play it again but i need some of those minor graphics mods like better heads etc.

What are the recommended mods that improve graphics and game play but don't drastically effect the game?

You're in the same boat as me. I got quite far then hadn't played it in ages and then lost my save games recently when I was going to play it this month.

But I think i'll just wait for Oblivion, and then have a proper go at that.

I installed it and its running very well on max, a few things i need though are some good game enhancing mods, also would like to use a higher resolution if its possible?

i downloaded a pet shop mod. It's quite good. Choose your pet, buy it and it follows you around the game :D I got it from the official morrowind website IIRC.
Doesn't seem to slow the game down aswell.
I haven't completed morrowind mainly as i don't know how :p but i might start it in a bit after seeing this thread but as soon as oblivion comes out ill start that.

If you dont get a chance to finish morrowind then I think you should at least spend some time at the big library in Vivec reading through the books and also Joshiba's rare books, some of the books will give you a good idea of whats going on, and some history. If not then just concentrate on the main quest, you will get some good information from Lord Vivec.

I've just had a quick look over my PC Zone DVD, and there seem to be some Morrowind mods graphical mods on there.

I'll have a look at them later and post more info and their fulls names up.

just saying (not insinuating) but if you decide to cheat, don't manage to learn the entire console code.

back when i was addicted to TES3, instead of walking around to find an NPC, i'd spawn him right infront of me, then use the console to teleport to the objective, and teleport back.

its quite sad i must say.

like i said, don't do it!!!

I have Oblivion on pre-order but never actually finished the main quest in morrowind. I also bought the two expansions and never finshed tose (Although I still got a LOT of hours out of them).

Installed it again last week with better bodies and better heads and am loving it.

As I wanted to play through quite quickly I've also installed a mod that adds a Balmora University building near the Silt Strider. You pay 100 septims to join, then another 100 to access the library, and it's a room with 2 or 3 shelves full of books, and each increases one of your attributes.

Not to a silly level, but it just helps you get started off a bit quicker.

In the last week I've played about an hour a day and have done all the Balmora mage guild quests, a few misc quests such as all the ones around Seyda Neen, a few random dungeon crawls for loot, a bit of the main quest, and have just moved onto the island added by the Bloodmoon add-on and am getting quite well into that as it feels a lot fresher than the mainland stuff (most of which I have done several times before).

Here's the ones i want if there's any updated versions.

Official mods
Real Signposts or Weathered Signposts
Magicka Regen Amulet
Better Character Models (there's a few i think, what's the best?)
Passive Healthy Wildlife
Ring Texture Fix
A Companion mod (im not sure what one?)

There's probably more but im not sure what's recommended or where to get updates anymore, can anyone help or add to my list?

Thanks!

For the better character models, I'd definately recommend you install:

Better Bodies (http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.c...s.Detail&id=213)

and

Better Heads (http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.c....Detail&id=2735)

I'm not so keen on companions. From what I've played on Bloodmoon (offical add on) so far, there is a fair bit where you have a companion. Annoyingly they get stuck behind things that you could jump and get out of, but they cannot.

I've also had her drown a few times when her pathfinding seemed to be out and she was following me in water! Unfortunately on the mission I'm currently on there is no option for her to wait behind!

Yeah i won't bother with a companion now, im still just looking for the most common and best game enhancing mods that don't effect game play too much, i've not even started playing yet. :p

Turns out I had missed a step out and she wasn't even meant to be following me anymore, and by getting her killed I had got myself into a bit of a problem!!

Luckilly I save regularly and under different file names :)

I'm using the ultimate textures mod which is really good, it has leafy or forrested morrowind as part of it and I've added the other too it.

Improved Balmora and morrowind comes alive will add more bustle to your game.

I like using the companion mods especially for hiring guards to watch over my various business enterprises, currently an egg mine a tavern a resturant and museum.

If you want to use companion mods look for ones by Grumpy and Emma they are better scripted and have the best abilities.

Also the BAR mercenary mods are worth a try.
I could go on for ages as I'm currently running over 80mods.

where do you get them from though? The ones listed above are on file planet and im not (willing to become) a subscriber.

You can get them without subscribing. On the page giving you the subscribing options click login now near the top and then register a new account. You should be able to use the free servers.

I got my game sorted now and was playing all last night. :D

My mod list has been kept small and there's no serious game changes only improvements, i recommend these as standard, i may add more in the future but atm i don't want to mess the game up.

Better heads
Better bodies
Real signposts
Ring texture fix
All the official mods
Magicka regen amulet
Passive healthy wildlife

Im thinking of buying the goty edition as i don't have the expansions, its only £9.99, maybe a silly question but is it still worth it?
