Morrowind then Oblivion?

I reinstalled Morrowind this weekend and was looking at what mods to put in and the above posts have answered my queries.

I restarted it because of Oblivion coming out and the fact my pc is not upto scratch to run it. So hopefully it will tide me over until I get my new pc sorted towards the end of this year!

Im thinking of buying the goty edition as i don't have the expansions, its only £9.99, maybe a silly question but is it still worth it?

If its the place I'm thinking of availability is 6-8 weeks! I've was going to get it (again) aswell in time for oblivion! Oh well the wait is not long now :D.

While i will likely get oblivion i don't think its a good idea to get games as soon as they're out, i've learned from poor and buggy games in the past, im not saying oblivion will be but im happy to wait for a bit.

I had forgot how much morrowind crashed, is it like that for everyone?

edit: no its in stock where im looking! ;)

About the GOTY version, I'd say it's worth getting if you are allready into mrwnd as IMO the tribunal expansion is a brilliant addon which gives a great deal of extra content, I never quite got into bloodmoon in the same way but it still gives extra content which allows you to use more of the custom mods than without.

Yes I've always found mrwnd likes to crash, which can be a bit annoying and unfortunately with the number of mods I've added it has made it a bit worse as well, saying that it could just be one of the mods causing a problem.

I remember when I first bought Morrowind when it had just been released... I couldn't get out of the customs office at the start without it crashing lol. Oh I love PC gaming :D

I'm sorry, but that must make Atranoch massively overpowered. Lord knows it's powerful enough already.

Not sure what your referring to but its quite a fair regeneration of magicka, in other words very very slow.

a few pictures of what some hours playing can get you

2 sets of Glass Armour, full High Ordinateaurs, Ordinateaurs, The Cool Red Armour and a few pieces of Ebony. I'm not strong enough to get full ebony yet :(

Not bad for not doing any quests. I just went around unlocking doors with my unlock any door amulet I enchanted

I remember getting the Ordinator armour and then they all started attacking me in that big city.

Also there was some kind of bug as well, in which they always attacked me even when I sold the armour. Had to go and open up the console.

that's not a bug, you have to pay a sentence or go to jail. Drop the armour first, pay off the sentence and then pick it up again

With all this talk I just installed it so see what all the fuss is about. Added the Better Heads + Bodies and the Healthy Critters + Real signs mods from the start. Initially thought it was bad, (it is over 4 years old I think)but with the new textures it looks a lot better.

Played a few hours, following the main story and am now a Blade agent and member of the Magika Guild. It's all a bit strange (chose a DarkElf-BattleMage) and have not found any items like glass armour! Where did you go to get that Phalanx?

On some bizarre mission to find mushrooms now :p
Boil boil, bubble and toil...

Sounds like you've barely scratched the surface mate, you'll not be finding glass armour for a while yet I doubt.

edit... I remember the mushrooms mission, that's the one where there's 4 you need to get for Ajira <sp?> right, one of which is Bunglar's Bane or something.

That's the exact one - follow the river south to the wooden bridge and hunt for the mushrooms that grow on the side of the trees. Bring 4 different types back to complete it.

Saved it last night at the bridge and am itching to go back and see where the trail leads me ... looks like I have a ways to go.

Cool stuff you got there Phalanx, wish i could find some better stuff, though i do have two enchanted items both with high armour ratings, they are the lords mail and a odd helmet that adds 30 personality and makes everyone like you a lot more, trouble is my guy is also wearing an enchanted robe and he looks like a bit of a freak with it all on lol. :p

I often use jump repeatedly to get up the big hills or just levitate as it makes trips far quicker if you know where your heading, like to get those mushrooms, just try to get up over the hill across from where you exit the mages guild and your be in the bitter coast region.

One thing i do (which i don't really class as a cheat tbh) is to set my speed to 100 because i find its way too slow at default and i have no idea how long it would take to increase, probably ages though i imagine.

To change it open the console with the key under Esc (¬) and type...

player->setspeed 100

:)

being able to move around quickly and jump high enough to get over the big hills is something that will come with time. As a new player I'd have rather walk around and explore the land as I indeed did.

At the end of the day it's a single player game so you're not hurting anyone elses experience and can do what you want, but it' not the way I'd do it. I'd recommend being cautious when boosting stats in the console, as it's a very slippery slope from doing things like adding items to your inventory, jumping to other coordinates etc etc.

I think you misunderstood, atm my jumping ability is just a little over average but that's with always doing it and getting better, if you approach a big hill at certain places or angles you can do lots of short quick jumps which get you up there in no time, maybe you'd class it as a bug im not sure, anyway i've played this game before and so far i've not even got to where i was before so im trying to speed up the game a bit to get to where i was.

There are always enchanted items to help with all these things like speed (boots of blinding speed), levitation or jump spells to get over hills. You just have to put a bit of time in to get your characters skills good enough.

As for the ordinators attacking you there is a mod out there that will stop that, there is another one of my favourites for when you are a member of the legion, which makes the guards etc recognise that you are part of the legion which they didn't in the standard game.
