Mortal Kombat (2011)

I think the game looks good on videos but with people saying it's not viable for competitive play and that it's not balanced, not sure I'll bother with it :(

Will wait for it to be released, also not a ps plus member so guess I'll have to wait for the demo.

The more videos I watch the less interested I am in this game tbh

Has anyone seen the preorder deal amazon are doing? Pretty nice, if you preorder the normal edition with them you get:

Classic Sub-Zero Costume along with classic fatality.
Classic Reptile Costume along with classic fatality.
Classic Kitana Costume.

GAME don't seem to be offering any preorder bonus with their normal edition so I emailed them to hear if they just haven't published the details yet on their website, if they aren't offering anything think I'll be going with amazon.

Just got an email from GAME saying the price of the Kollector's Edition has dropped to £49.99 which I think is very reasonable so I'll be keeping my Kollector's Edition preordered with them.

Well, at last I got my Paws on the demo. Good things...

Customisable Controls,
Graphics,
Gameplay,
Moves List,
Fighters appear more injured as the fight goes on,
Its Mortal Komabt!

Bad Things...

Why this Bias in the new game for Scorpion beating Sub Zero? (title screen, 2 different figures included with the Us and Uk Kollectors Editions). Poor old Sub Zero is getting his a** handed to him by Scorpion (and imo it should be the other way around!).

Why oh why did they feel the need to change some of the keystrokes for the special moves? Its like we have to learn the game all over again. I mean Low Kick to do the freeze? Backward, Forwards, Low Kick for the Slide? What were they thinking?

Why oh why did they re-map the Roundhouse kick and sweep to one button? Same reason as above.

Looking at the move list only 1 fatality per fighter? I'm hoping there are more in the final game but time will tell...

Overall though I still enjoyed it and will give it another go later. It does feel a tad sluggish compared to Mk2 and 3/Triology especially, but on the whole compared to other fighting games its up there with Tekken 6 and SSf2 in my book (my other two favorite one-on-one fighting games).

There will be more than 1 fatality per character, that's been confirmed.

Oh phew (wipes the sweat from his brow) thats good news. I wasn't sure if it had been restricted in the demo, but now I know thats a big relief. Now, should I get the Kollectors Edition since its gone down to 50 notes or stick with my normal edition at 35 quid pre-ordered?

It really depends on whether you like the stuff being offered with the Kollector's Edition for me personally what they're offering at 50 quid is a steal, 70 quid seemed steep and I always said if the price lowered to 60 I would go ahead and order it but to see it drop to 50 is a dream come true. I'm a huge MK fan and I always have been so I have no probs buying the Kollector's Edition but I can certainly understand why most peeps will probably just stick to the normal edition.

Yeah I know all the male ninjas will have their classic costumes along with classic fatalities, Ermac's fatality will have to be taken from UMK3 as he didn't really appear until then he was just a glitch in MK1 an 'error macro'.

Little known fact about MK arcade cabinet...

It had 2 counters and switches inside. 1 for ERMACs and 1 for the Jonny Cage nut punch.

Meaning you could turn off the nut punch if you wanted :D

Yeah, Ive been playing the demo more and have got to grips with the combos a bit now. Enjoying it, although I cannot get the Forest Stage Fatality to work whatever I do so thinking its been disabled in the demo? Also, I noticed one of Scorpions Fatality moves requires you to press up twice. Up makes you jump which also makes the move not work which was a classic complaint from the old Mortal Kombat games. Didn't the devs learn anything from the past?

Apart from that its good. Not sure if I'll get the Kollectors Edition or not as 35 for the normal is pretty cheap although I am a huge Mk fan. If there was a soundtrack thrown in as well it would be a no brainer. I'll have to have a little think...
