Mortal Kombat (2011)

It is for single player. Easily the best solitary fighting game after smash bros.

Multiplayer... well it's MK so good for a muck around but not anything to take seriously.

I actually gave up trying Multiplayer last night. Tried both Ranked and Player Match options, and it just sat there for upwards of 2 minutes each time searching for an opponent.

Well finished story mode yesterday, got the hidden characters unlocked. Also unlocked all alternate costumes with second fatalities, quite a productive day I thought! =) Going to make a start on the challenge tower today and get a little practice in with Stryker (have a tournament tomorrow night and that's who I drew lol). Anyone else simply blown away by the story? Thought it was brilliant really having a tough time trying to find places where it could have been improved.

He's really not as bad as I was expecting, that enhanced pistol shot is amazing as you said but for me his X-Ray is definitely the best in the game it's brilliant!

Not played a MK for years as I got bored of the generic tiered fighting in these games.

Never realised this had a story mode. Is it any good and based on the above would I get bored? I mean is it still a tiered fighting system albeit a glorified one?

Story mode and single player are excellent. It's longer than a far few regular games, which is incredible for a fighting game.

nope story mode is really really good, great story really cool cut scenes. it basically tells the story of mk1 through to 3 in an alternative universe. its about 7 hours long.

I am in the same tournament as Drunzer tomorrow, I got Kabal and Im againts Scorpion, I got to admit I was kinda worried, but after playing with Kabal last night I recon I can handle Scorpion no problem. Kbals moves are so easy to pull off and his X-Ray is pretty sweet. :). I hope I dont choke come the Fatality lol would never live that down

That's handy, I only really played 1 to 3 before getting bored of fighting games.

Hmm, might pick up a copy on the way home. Does the story mode introduce you to the controls and moves gradually via challenges or upgrades? For example like God of War and the like?

Story mode doesn't, no.

The Challenge Tower is a bit better for that, and there's also a Tutorial section that, whilst very brief, is a decent primer.
