Mortal Kombat (2011)

I cannot seem to get the tutorial section to complete, it's the power kombo (square, x, triangle) with Johnny Cage that it wont seem to recognise.

The combination has to be pressed VERY quickly for it to pass. Forget the animations of the characters themselves, just press the combo as quickly as you can, then SLIGHTLY ramp down the speed each subsequent time you need to try it.

That one gave me a little hassle, but managed it after 5 or 6 attempts.

Final question. What is it like to play on the 360 controller? Dpad is a no no because its poo so it has to be sticks.

Really wasn't ever expecting to buy a mortal kombat game again but this is brilliant! Real nostalgia factor with some great fighting mechanics and proper single player content.

What have you other TE fightstick users got your button layout as?

I'm going to go:

FP TAG BP
FK BLK BK

or

TAG FP BP
BLK FK BK

I had a quick bash yesterday and had the same problem with the one before it (square, square, Forward square). IN the end I was just hammering the button and it came off, then the same with the one you mentioned!

B the time I pulled them off my Johnny Cage was covered in black gunk/blood from hitting Sektor so many times.

I need to practise to get the timing correct as it has been a while since I played a beat-em up that isn't Tekken or SF which have different timings.

Any gameplay comments?

Easy to pick up and play. Harder to master. Occasional difficult spikes but Neatherealm have said that the game monitors how players play and will adjust the mechanics in the background to make fights stay fair. However, have noticed a couple of opponents in single player spam the same move. In one fight Sub Zero just seem to throw ice balls and do his slide.

I'm tempted to buy this just for the story mode and the trials. Maybe it grows on you the more you play it? I didn't like the feel of the demo at all though, only managed 10 mins on that and 'clunky' is exactly how I would describe the gameplay. Hmm whats the cheapest it can be had for on xbox?

Had to stop playing my hands are starting to hurt lol, having so much fun with this though. Might head online with this and see how it is once Sony get their act together with PSN.
