Mortgage Rate Rises

If only we had a pool of people able to use the advantages of disparities in countrys economies to come and do work that's inherently low paid in our country but comparatively well paid to them. And if they could just freely come and go as the work or their requirements dictated, that would be a great solution.

100% this.

Sadly our country really has been on a rollercoaster ride of self harm over the last few years.

Feelings over facts.

Imagine if we had that, but we also had a competent government who logged those people coming and going and could send the ones not working back home.

So they spend the welfare they receive indirectly from tax payers, which drives economy and forces inflation and interest rates to rise.
How is that a good thing?

Im not talking about forcing them to work, im saying if everyone who could wanted to work what would happen to the economy. They would work, save a bit and spend more than they had before.

You said all.

ALL unproductive are not living on welfare.

Its basically nonsense, sorry.

I wonder if when our mortgage deal comes to an end (2027) then is the time to look at emigration?

Especially if the country is still in terminal decline and rates are super high.
I expect we will still have 150k in debt by then. And I certainly wouldn't fancy going onto 5pc.

It gives us time to prepare. UK has been going in the opposite direction to my views for years. And brexit really is the opposite of my beliefs. Do I really want to live in a country not only self harming it by choice? But also going backwards and in opposite direction to myself?

Interesting reading from the resolution foundation:

This reads quite doom and gloom.
With only 30% of people now having a mortgage it would seem to me that to keep raising interest rates is going to have less impact than in the past.
Gov needs to force banks to offer savers rates in line with boe rate to get best impact of all these rises.

It has less immediate impact for sure.
Most people didn't used to fix, now most people do.
Fix means the impact is offset and takes longer to filter through.

It was a theory - IF all the people who could work started working.

It’ll never happen though as many lazy sods havent worked for decades and won’t start now.

I personally feel if someone can work but havent for 3 years + all benefits should be stopped.

UK is a country where if you don’t want to work, you don’t have to and on benefits you’re encouraged and guided how to get more (as I was) other countries where the welfare safety net isn’t there free handouts don’t exist, everyone works to feed themselves and look after family members. Its a case of earn by selling what you can and do any work you can.
It’s fantastic to see how hard working everyone is (and how people work together) in other countries where benefits don’t exist.

You will see the benefits of leaving. But you need to plan it in a away that will benefit you. Therefore, it takes a bit longer to do correctly.

Wages in other parts of the world are rising yet, property values are rising but not as fast.

Sell your bigger property to fund a smaller one in the UK. Use the cash to buy fully abroad. There are other benefits of doing this.
Rent out the smaller one to generate income, there are other advantages.

The biggest reason why some don't work is rents, and what they have left after they paid rent.

If benefits do not exist, then the level of crime would increase over night.

Benefits is a cheap way to keep crime low and subsidise the economy. Unemployment benefits are a very very small percentage of government spending.

Emmigrate to where? Thailand?

Somewhere more wild with less people ideally. UK is so densely Populated it feels so crowded.

You need to treat the UK more as a business and less as a country now, sad but that is what this country has turned into.

The UK is no longer fit for purpose to live in.

Remove any emotional attachments.

If you have any kids then get them a sipp £2880 a year, the government pushes it up to £3600. This is more of a tactical move, the money is locked till they get to retirement age and will not impact their tax etc... During their working life.

How many spend the majority of their wages here in the UK compared to shipping the money back to wherever they claim to have come from? The media's awash with adverts facilitating such money movement out of the UK

I don't really have any. It's just a pain to emigrate. Selling stuff you own, trying to find a job in a different country, Visas, points systems etc etc.

Hopefully with population decline picking up more Countries will be crying out for skilled workers and it will become easier to emigrate
