hey,

i am currently searching for an mATX Board and was also consider the MSI MPG Z390M Gaming Edge AC
the thermal pictures are with a 9700k, but what about a 9900k? is the VRM design enough for an 9900k and allcore 4,7Ghz all the time?

The place I got that image has completed another couple of builds but these are also 9700K. I think it is a more popular match for this class of board. Are you sure you need the 9900K? It only pulls ahead of the 9700K in rendering and some encoding workloads. The power draw and heat output of the 9700K is lower and so can maintain a higher boost for longer at stock settings.

The Gigabyte Z390M has a slightly better VRM but is worse for other board features (audio, WiFi, USB). After that the only thing better (in mATX form) is the Gene XI.

Right O then, got the MSI MPG Z390M GAMING EDGE AC and an i7 8700 + GTX 1070 Ti + 32GB 3200MHz ram to build a new system for the wife, no overclocking just stock working and gaming at 1440p so she should be sweet for the next few years with it hopefully.....upgraded from 4790K and GTX 970 and 1080p so should be all good.

Got a link to the forum/post where that pic came from? Interested to check any further info on this board MSI MPG Z390M Gaming Edge AC as I want to make sure it's good enough quality component wise and vrm wise to last for a few years running a 9700K overclocked or 9900K stock or slightly overclocked.

It's from an Washington based custom computer specialist. They post thermals of all the PC's they build for their customers. Might be viewed as a competitor.

@IT Troll

What cooler are you using for your 9700K please, just tossing up between a Corsair AIO or an air cooler but wondering what air coolers will fit on the mobo in a Phanteks Enthoo Evolv mATX case

What cooler are you using for your 9700K please
Noctua NH-U12S with push/pull fans. The thermal picture above is using the same cooler with a single fan.

I like that the fans spin down to 190 RPM for light desktop activities and so are nice and quiet. With an AIO you still have the pump noise even if the fans spin down. But if you are looking to overclock a 9900K you may need the extra cooling capability.
