Think I'm developing a man crush on Harris.

I love the idea of owning an Atom as a weekend car.

Boring rep mobile by day, Ariel Atom for the summer and nice winter days (when we get them)

Trouble is, if you had an expensive weekend play thing, i can't help but think you'd want to take it on epic road trips to far away places.

And driving to Italy in an Atom can't be fun. Not exactly the epitome of comfortable long distance cruising it like say ... a 911 is is it ?

I agree, about the Atom not really being a 'weekend' thing.

Things that would put me off:
- No fun for longer distances or taking to shows that are further away
- No fun in poor weather, so you can't just go out in it regardless
- Can't drive it anywhere near the limit on the road
- Can't really take out passengers in it for any duration
- Liable to lose your licence with it
- Liable to have a massive accident with it
- Probably get bored of how capable it was very quickly (at lower speeds, as you can't exploit it)
- Not a particularly cool or comfortable thing to be seen in, difficult to show off with
- Probably really frustrating and annoying to drive slowly.

I was chatting to a guy at Silverstone a while back who'd put ditch finders on his really rather well spec'd Caterham for these very reasons, he figured it meant you could have much more fun without having to up the power

I've had the pleasure of being chauffeured around public roads in an Atom and the amount of heads it turns is unbelievable. Definitely worth owning if you do a lot of trackdays but if you live in a city away from quality b roads then there are better options.

Drive is such an awesome channel, they really do put a lot of effort into everything.

Also did anyone read the article on Pistonheads about the Atom V8 around the Nurburgring. It cost Harris £1750 to insure it and a £20k excess.

Really? Surely the channel paid for it?

Well Tiff would win hands down while Harris sits there making facial expressions and calling everything pants as always :p
