You did just watch the chinese video up there where the cam car is chasing an S2000 clarkey?

driving a couple foot from the car in front, driving through traffic, undertaking traffic, sometimes using the wrong side of the road?

please show me a chris harris video thats comparable to that, that will be amusing

Half the time he's driving sideways at speed on public roads, and a few times so fast that 4 wheels were off the ground.

Those Hondas were just cruising around. The rubbish camera and high rpm makes it look faster and more dangerous than it really is. The overtakes and crossing of the line will have been well sighted from the drivers eyes. Is 'undertaking' is even illegal in HK?

There's a whole world of difference between a bit of pre-planned powerslidey fun on a Welsh B-road with a camera crew in tow and street racing through a city at night like it's Need for Speed.

No there isn't, they are both utterly illegal. The potential for things to go nasty is much less on a wide open highway and the car isn't getting loose in the slightest though.

If Chris Harris were to get a slide wrong, at worst he would stick the car in a hedge or a ditch. Might write the car off but he can still walk away from it. If those guys in those honda's lost control, the chance of walking away would be much more slim.

That is exactly what I'm talking about.

Never mind though, I learned today that it's ok for me to drive like a total ass, do high speed skids and jumps on a public welsh road so long as it;s pre planned and someone is filming it.

Like you've never had a bit of fun on an empty B road Clarkey?

Chris Harris is an experienced racing driver. You don't do the Nurburgring 24 hours or Spa 6 hours, drive like a "total spastic" and come back in one piece. I can't say the same for the YTEC Yo boys cutting up taxi's like it's a videogame.

Sure it is...as long as there's no-one else around for you to injure or kill if anything goes wrong (i.e. completely the opposite of the other video) and you're a professional doing it as part of your job.

Are the roads even open when he's doing a little controlled sliding on them?

You talk as though he's sliding sideways at 100+mph through traffic, inches from pedestrians and frequently airborne and thus out of control.

If he was repeatedly driving in a dangerous way on public roads and being watched by millions of people every week, the police would have noticed and taken action quite some time ago. They haven't because he isn't.

The British authorities don't go around closing roads just so some american youtube channel can film cars skidding around. Heck, even Top Gear have to go to IOM for that privilege.

I think it's great, not against it at all. I just find the double standards a bit hilarious.

I do genuinely wonder how he gets away with the flagrant dangerous driving on film though.

Can't you see that there's a difference between the videos though? CH throws cars around, sure - but when it's safe, he doesn't do it when there are other cars around - some of his videos even show him driving normally when a car comes the other way. Whereas the other video shows 2 people who are clearly racing on public roads, weaving in and out of traffic. One video shows a professional driver who has considerable racing experience, and the other shows rice boys "racing".

The CH videos may be inappropriate, sure, but the other one is clearly dangerous. There's a massive difference between the two.
