I think it's likely that the engineers still have wacky ideas but the regulations are written more tightly nowadays.

It would be interesting to see, just for the sake of it, what they could come up with if the regulations were limited to reasonable safety regulations. It would be a new contest, primarily between engineers. Formula Engineering

Way to ruin your car for some YouTube "thumbs ups" and internet points IMO.

Reminds me of the countless "Anti Lag Battle" videos you get of a load of cars parked up banging away for 5 minutes while a bunch of Neds stand around looking gormless.
