Motorsport Manager

I've had an extremely good start to the season after 4 races. My drivers are currently 2nd and 9th which somehow makes me 1st in the constructors, which is very tight. I decided not to upgrade my HQ this season, save the money and go all out of parts which seems to be working.

I never get to that point I tend to finish races with 6-9% but dev and other people mentioned about you can get to 2% before you are in trouble.

I've done about 9 races so far. I've never seen any AI car still out on the track with 9% or less. Never seen it. So yeah if you could record that (or point to a YT MM video on it) that would be great. Perhaps it is one of the things that happen with the F1 2017 mod that tyre degradation becomes super bad when less then 20% (which i use)

All the soft tires (ultra/super/soft) are getting seconds slower below 25% in my experience.
The medium/hard and inter/wet can be used down to 10%.

This must be due to either your car or drivers also the mode you are in.

I just saw a video on youtube which showed few drivers less then 16% still putting in quick laps before pitting https://youtu.be/UCPId2yM31M?t=12m57s

With the latest patch I would say 10% is around the limit now.

Are the rest of you running any mods/workshop items?

^^ yeah but on M tyres. When i run H or M i can run them longer than S SS US etc.

I want 2 things from the next patch to fix. Must fixes imo

1. Track Rubber actually making a difference to lap time. I also hear from my drivers the rubber is great and track temp is optimum so quick lap times should be doable but it doesnt matter what the rubber is for Qualifying. You will not get a speed increase from it. (even only minor would be better than nothing)

2. Related to this. I have done 1 full season with all the practice and qualifiers (not skipped anything) And there has never been a situation where i send my cars out to do a 2nd or 3rd lap and they do a quicker time. Never. The AI cars do it all the time (cheators!)

Yes i may do a quicker time in a different qualifying session but never on the same session.

The only time you will do a quicker qualifying time is if it was raiining to start with so u were on inters and changed to SS or S at the end to get a quicker time.

3rd. Well this is only a minor thing. The AI needs to be smarter. In qualifying if i see 4 blocks of dry then i know i can get a quick run on SS, US, S etc. The AI does not even think this they just go out straight away on inters and whoops there was a dry bit of track? He misses it. Its probably too much to ask tbh...skynet levels of AI maybe :D

season 2

got rid of Massa (even though he somehow got driver of the year??!) Stroll was a few points ahead in the final standings.

Promoted Schumy to Massa's slot and made do with the temp reserve driver....because i spent a boatload of cash on the new car lol (all my £50 mill + money i had saved for the car £16 mill). So i started new season about - 5 million.

Luckily its quite a beast. Schumy is beating Hamilton to poles.

Good news and bad news. My parts are all fab but the reliability is nightmarish (40% etc) on them. Fortunately it seems the rest of the teams have the same problem as there were a ton of retirements in the first race of the season. And my engineers are sorting out reliability as the days go by. Schumey 2nd then 1st Stroll 4 then 2nd in first 2 races leading driver and team championship Happy days! :D

You may want to give this ago http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/motorsport-manager-balance-mod-part-1.12965/ it adds a lot of what you are asking for and more.

Regarding the weather and tires the AI choose remember the locks you are seeing are based on the weather centre not all teams will have this info also it may not be the same data as you are getting this is something which will make others go down a different path to yourself and I think the AI likes to play it safe

That mod looks great, but that would mean starting over again.
I'm still really enjoying this game despite it's obvious flaws. Looking forward to version 2 which I'm sure will add a load of stuff to bulk it out and improve it a lot.

Finished my first season, finishing most races between 11th and 16th place. The last race was a little different with rain making pit stops much more strategic, and whilst almost every other team came in for wets from slicks, I changed to inters and for 8 laps went past everyone else with ease. Got one of my drivers up to 1st place before having to pit for wets. He eventually finished the race in 3rd, which was fantastic.

Designed my new car and replaced one of my drivers (kept Gomes) with a young Chinese guy who has potential. 2 races into the new season and I've had two 5th place finishes, and the other inside to top 10. My car seems better than last seasons, but it helps that the AI doesn't seem to repair their cars towards the end of the race. Had numerous AI drivers in the top 5 retire due to part failure, when they could have pitted. That included 1st place who was 1/2 lap ahead of everyone else.

Now a bit of a dilemma as I've scouted the unemployed drivers, and one of them is a 3 1/2 star driver who has much better stats than Gomes, and will discuss contract terms. Not sure whether to sign them and get rid of Gomes, or sign them as backup driver but will be paying them big money for not racing .

Anyone still playing this? I'm having great fun, almost halfway through my 4th season and I finally have a competitive car. A couple of wins and podium finishes leaves me with a driver at the top of the Championship table. Need to improve my marketability somehow, as I need more money to develop my HQ.

I made a huge mistake. Downloaded one of the Steam Workshop packs. One of it's main feats included receiving crazy amounts of sponsorship monies - Something I thought I really wanted.

A few races in I realised downloading this pack was a huge mistake. The challenge I had enjoyed for so long was no longer present. I have since uninstalled this game. I plan to re-install it and start over at a later date.

Some of them will do that.

I just stick with the one I linkied to before it is very good and I like how it's made it more realistic so a bottom team can not become super over night.

I cant figure out the pit stops at all. Every time i pit too late or too early.

I always find it's better to put too much fuel in than too little, your a bit more flexible then. I played a bit of this over the weekend and I think I'm going to up to tier 2 after this season. Currently miles ahead in the drivers championship but it's close in the teams due to my 2nd driver crashing out twice in a row.

I think it depends a lot on what the fuel rules allow, I found it tough when it's on the (40%?) rule as you were guaranteed to need 3 stops in a race. Once you can fuel your cars enough then it's down to tyre strategy which I find the AI is not too good at and makes it a lot easier.

You should never stack in the pits, unless it's for something like changing conditions where you would lose more time on the wrong tire. My one driver is better on tyres than the other so I always pit the same guy a lap before the other. I still fuel them the same just in case something happens.

Still playing this more than any other game at the moment, and into Season 9.
After dominating the European series for 4 seasons, I took the stap up to the Asia cup. There is no real difference between the two tiers other than the chassis cost, so get promotion as soon as you can really. In the first year, after the first couple of races I'd built a few components to improve the car, and I went on to win the constuctors and drivers championship. I'm in the 2nd season now and dominating again. With £45m in the bank, I'll do another season before I go up to the top tier.

As for pit stops, I have a no.1 driver and no.2 driver and they always have slightly different strategies. My No.1 driver always qualifies on the front row so will always go with the softest tyres and less fuel to get a boost at the start of the race, run a longer second stint on a clearer track so putting in good laps times, then a short fast final stint to get fastest lap and bonus points. My No.2 driver will have a few more laps of fuel in the tank at the start, and may be on the same tyres or a slightly harder compound in order to run a few extra laps, their 2nd and 3rd stints will be equal laps but the last stint always on the softest tyres when the AI seems happy to run their tyres down. Changing weather aside, I always divide the number of laps of a race by 3 in order to plan a 2 stop race. If a set of tyres has 17-19 laps as there recommended number of laps, always take at least a couple of that number when planning which lap to stop on. I rarely let them run down past 20% unless for a specific strategy like changing weather or the end of the race. I have changed tyres with 5 laps to go, lost 1st place in the process, but pushed really hard and taken top spot back.

After a few years in the top tier, I'm going to start again with the mod mentioned in #328 which makes it all a bit more realistic (harder to go from the back of the grid to the front).
