F1 is getting all girly. Glad I was brought up when true racers was about.
I guess we better bring in some deaths as well because it's 'too girly'.

Take a look at the of some of the 1980s races the FIA would have banned the lot during the start\race
if they had these silly girly rules then.

What rules would they be? At least add some context to your over the top ranting.

Seems fine to me. Everyone was wanting Grosjean and Maldonado banned for races when they were repeatedly causing accidents. With it formalised we'll have less complaining that one driver got away with a bit more than another.

Really can't see the problem myself. There are a load of things in F1 I'd want scrapped before objecting to this (cough DRS)

Its the potential massive disparity between crime and punishment that gets me.

By all means if someone causes first lap crashes a number of times give them a penalty. But under this system you could see someone banned for a race for an incredibly minor thing. Plus I don't think there should be penalty points AND the existing penalties.

Imagine a championship being decided because a driver was late to a briefing!

Let's remember this penalty system has only passed onto the FIA for consideration, not like it's been set in stone and worth getting all upset over.

Sounds a good idea to me.

That's probably why he ignored team orders and passed Webber - so he could get some extra money to buy action man figures and a new toy boat.

Sounds a good idea to me.

They got Massa and Kimi very cheap.

£16m for Button? I find that incredible, especially when Kimi is on £3m for example

(yes I know there are different budgets for teams etc etc)

Hmmm the rules I posted a page back. Did you not read them?

Yes I did, I was just wondering if you were referring to anything in particular but it seems not. If you think having rules in place against drivers forcing other drivers off and speeding in the pit line is 'girly' that's fair enough, banger racing might interest you now that F1 has been declared dead.

I don't believe those salaries are correct.
I know that Massa is one of the highest paid drivers in F1.
I also find it difficult to believe that Kimi is one of the lowest paid drivers in F1...especially after last year's exploits.
My understanding is that Hamilton is the highest paid driver in F1 (earning more than Alonso).

Of course, it is unlikely any of us will ever know, for sure, who gets what...

You won't "know" anything, as its its part of the regulations of F1 (I think an FOM rule, rather than an FIA one) that the contents of team and driver contracts remain confidential.

All those figures, and any other figures, are estimates. There's also a common confusion between salary and earnings, where people add in all the personal and team sponsorship income on top of a salary and inflate the figure.

The only recent figures I have seen are Hamiltons which were reported (again, estimates) when he moved to Mercedes where they were offering ~£19m to McLarens (twice increased) offer of ~£12m. That alone puts a massive question mark over Buttons figure.

Massive truck of salt with those figures, then.
