Check this gem out.

Colour video of Fangio onboard at Monaco.
No seatbelt, t-shirt and a leather helmet. Nails.

Seatbelts are for J.Buttons and M.Webbers of this World. :p

Fangio had balls big enough to fill a dump truck!

What really struck me was the t-shirt. It kind of makes a mockery of when we hear current drivers dithering over whether or not to race in wet conditions.

I've only ever driven go-karts and I have to say I prefer to drive without heavy overalls. When the wind hits your skin, you can really "feel" the speed. Same goes when riding a motorbike.

Great stuff!

The lack of seatbelts were a safety feature in themselves though. In the event of a car crashing, it was thought that it was better to be propelled out of the car than to be strapped in it, as any heavy accident almost inevitably resulted in a large fire. That and roll-over protection was non-existent, so again, better to be thrown from a car than having the car balancing on your head.

Still, that didn't help poor Bandini, or the child his wife was carrying.

Yea you would think so, doesn't seem Merc are so bothered by the cost of things at the moment though :p

Even little things are different, how far the hand grips extend, the (clutch?) controls on the back, the paddles... I would have thought drivers would use pretty much the same wheel but I guess not.

Edit: wonder if one of them is left handed as some of the items are total opposites or if it is purely a preference thing?

Just heard about this accident at Suzuka that happened at the end of April. Shigeru Terajima (the driver) and the marshall were hospitalised.

Just for info, the car was a Ferrari 458 Challenge.

Watch it in 720p and full screen.

This was posted on another forum I'm on a few weeks ago. The speed (or lack of) that the marshals dealt with it all is shocking. The marshal on the floor is practically ignored for a long time.
