Nice vid.

Pleased that they have changed the colour of the hard tyre. Seems they have done quite a bit of work on this years tyre's, will be interesting to see how they perform. Get ready for the haters. :)

Yep there is an article in F1 Racing this month about the new spec tyres. They are being moved one notch down again, like last season. So what was supersoft tyre in 2010 went to soft and now medium.

would this work?

let the teams use any tires they want but they have to use 2 compounds?

That would mean transporting hundreds if not thousands of extra tyres to every race. Not financially a good move and also less 'green'.

Would just make more sense to get rid of the mandatory 2 compound rule, it's out of date and pointless.

It wouldn't really work as the teams would work out the best ones to use, so all of them would use the same tyres any way.

Yep, they are all clever people.

What we need is a situation that allows a split like no stops on hards vs 2 stops using just sorts. But as it is it doesn't allow this. Having 2 compounds but no mandate to use both would help, but the teams would still be limited by the number of tyres they have. They simply don't have enough to run softs all through qualifying and then another 3 or 4 sets during the race.

One rule that can easily go is the starting on your qualifying tyres one though. There is absolutely no point in that.

F1 just postponed the decline of the Valencia dock really. It was redeveloped for the Americas Cup and would have been abandoned 5 years ago had they not built a race track around it.

I've not really got any sympathy for them. If you build a rubbish track in a pointless area and then prop it up with public money because it can't stand alone on its own merit then what can you expect. With the F1 mad areas and world famous tracks desperately clawing onto their spot on the calendar I think its a good thing to see some of the 'money before sport' projects failing miserably. Perhaps some of those countries looking at buying their way into F1 will think twice now.

/rant. :p
