They wont "bin it off" the FIA love it. Personally speaking, it's a pain to set up for and it's a pain to operate in and as far from glamorous as you could get.

Monaco - It's not about the racing or the sport it's about the spectacle and the money.

Which I think may sum up the whole direction of F1 recently.. :(

Of course they won't. There is a reason its just been renewed until 2031. Its a "glamour" and "historic race". If the FIA were that worried about spectacle they wouldn't have these races and they would do many things differently.

I would agree that the race can be boring, not every race can be epic every weekend, right?

Theres a large distance between epic and utterly crap. The only excitement at Monaco is quali and crashes.

According to the misinformed it remains then and it shouldn't it be dropped at all, the challenge and the spectacle of cars at 150+ mph millimeters from the barriers is good enough for me and it is one of the drivers favourite as well. No-one is forced to watch it anyway. So if some don't like the Monaco weekend they can just do something else instead..

No point getting rid of Monaco really. We all know it’d only be replaced with another sand-based, 0% chance of rain, may have made its money through oil, and has a slightly dubious human rights record-based country where they’re not allowed to celebrate with champagne at the end…

Monaco is a spectacle, it’s historic. I’m happy to watch it. I just don’t expect the best race in the world.

Besides, ditching it would be a sticking plaster. We still get the same lack of overtakes throughout the calendar (if not to that extent). The cars are too big, too heavy to race. That’s not Monaco’s fault.

Which driver? /s :D
I think if you asked most drivers, 'would you rather win the Monaco GP or the Russian, Indian, Korean, Azerbaijan, Las Vegas, Miami, Bahrain, Qatar, Chinese, Austrian, Dutch or Saudi Arabian GP?' I think you know the answer unless it was their home race.

The spectacle died a long time ago. I don't even think it looks that good in qualifying now.
Piloting the giant barges round the narrow streets, then easily the worst race to watch, outside of accidents it may bring. An old woman driving her Nissan leaf back from church would give them a run for their money on Sundays.

The crux of the issue is that the cars are too big and aerodynamically driven to allow closer and therefore more "spectacle".

Personally, I think there should be different types of tracks over the course of a season, and having smaller, tighter circuits like Monaco is part of the World Championship. If all the circuits visited over the season were the same, the season would get boring.

Indeed. It’s the cars that are the problem.. even those that complain about the circuit confuse themselves as below:

Monaco would be one of the most exciting races on the calendar if the cars were small and nimble to actually race each other.
