Remember when Button put in that fast lap out of the box in Jerez and everyone thought they were the team to beat?

Turns out the factory had installed the suspension the wrong way round!

Amazing story.

Given the absolute beating the Toro Rosso drivers got on here last year for daring to help Seb, I assume a barrage of abbuse towards Ferrari is incoming....

Not surprising really, it will be just the subtle allowing past quickly or holding up another team challenging for an extra corner or two where possible.

I think if Perez was letting Alonso past easy while blocking others it would have been picked up on long before now especially by the Ferrari/Alonso haters. Just like it was easy to see Torro Rosso drivers moving for Red Bull while blocking others.

on the subject of blocking and holding people up the 1999 malaysian gp is on sky right now lol....

Race director ****** sucks though not showing schumacher and hakkinen even though they are a few tenths apart for many laps now as schumacher attempts to let irvine run off into the lead

Trulli train? He was the master of holding up the field.

schumacher came back from breaking his leg at silverstone and for the races he took part in just tried to help irvine as much as possible.

irvines pulling away from hakkinen at 5+ tenths a second whilst hakkinen is stuck behind schumacher

Brings back memories. Just stuck this on. Glad hakkinen won this season in the end.

I don't miss the grooved tyres, that's for sure. Saying that, don't like what we have now :p

yea grooved tyres looked horrible, looks like it was one of the seasons before the cars got stupidly narrow though so they still had good grip

Maximum width of the cars went from 2m in '97 to 1.8m in '98 (the cars having been 2m wide since the beginning of the 1993 season when the rear tyre dimensions were altered). You're probably thinking that they got narrower because of the trend to longer wheelbases and overall longer cars making it look like they did.
