Motorsport Off Topic Thread

For Kimi fans out there, does Kimi follow a regimented physical training regime or is he all about alcohol and ice-cream?

schumacher came back from breaking his leg at silverstone and for the races he took part in just tried to help irvine as much as possible.

irvines pulling away from hakkinen at 5+ tenths a second whilst hakkinen is stuck behind schumacher

Schumacher's performance at Sepang that year is still one of the most dominant performances I've ever seen.

Despite not being fully fit he obliterated the field in qualifying then, despite being on a 1-stop strategy to other people's 2-stop, he actually had to drive slowly for the majority of the race to hold Hakkinen up. When he did let it off the leash he immediately opened up large gaps.

Chances are he would have won the championship by miles that season.

Seems Pedro de la Rosa is having fun at Ferrari:

:)

Are they not 2 separate occasions, look at the pit buildings, first vid they are on the left, second they are on the right, unless they turned the cars around for some reason?

I remember Alonso and Massa going around Catalunya when testing was on in the same car, that might be the second of your clips as there was another Ferrari on the circuit at the same time as well, so probably DLR.

didn't eddie irvine still moan that schumacher never wanted him to win the championship as well

No don't think so, he said the only way to beat MS was to have a better car like Mika :) Eddie might have won the title if he never had to move over for MS at France earlier that year though...

Off course both Ferrari's were DQ in Malaysia only for the FIA to change their mind ;)

oh I always remember irvine as being bitter, maybe that was just during schumachers comeback though.
maybe eddie genuinely liked schumacher though and it was just hard for him to watch schumacher trailing around the mid field for 3 years

malaysia 2003 and 2007 are on tonight from 7:30pm - 11pm :D

Well we all know that Eddie would have been WDC in 1999 if Ferrari never insisted on team orders at the French Grand Prix and given his place to Michael Schumacher.

Beaten to it :(

Would he have been WDC if ferrari never insisted on team orders for the whole season? I'm guessing not

You can't really pick and choose team orders for when it would have suited you

I'm going on what the news papers\TV and eddies interviews at the time.
But if you have proof that I am wrong them please post..but really I don't care.

well yeah that is true but then Salo moved over for Eddie to let him win in Germany and MS moved to let him win in Malaysia. So to be fair Eddie got the team orders returned.

I loved Eddie but he was never WDC material, he also binned the car when 3rd or something at Hungary which you could say also cost him the title.

Been sent a link to this crash, you might have seen it before. They where very lucky to be able to walk away from this.

EI finished 3rd in Hungary though  He wasn't as fast as MS or MH, but he was very consistent in 1999. In addition to the 4 wins discussed, he had 5 podiums and finished in the points every race except Nurburgring (7th after the pitstop debacle) and San Marino (engine failure). McLaren had the faster car but kept screwing up.

tough crowd, sorry he went off while in 2nd then and lost a place to DC was a while sorry if I did not remember it perfectly, still he made a big mistake that cost him.

His 4 wins were pretty fortunate TBF retirements in Aus and DC taking Mika out at Austria? and 2 given to him on a plate. Sure he was normally in the points but it was not like today's sport and there was very little challenge to Ferrari and McLaren.

Am imagining it or did i read a story on eurosport earlier that Bernie claims Hamilton was willing to take a year out of f1 rather than re sign for mclaren?
