Mountain Biking

Ermagherd, bank error in my favour may mean new frame and fork time soon :D

Anyone got an idea of value of:
2013 RS Sekto Solo Airs - vgc tftuned etc
2010 Trek Fuel ex5 - good cond, rp2
Reverb will have to be replaced too

good question, i know the post size is 31.6mm. its NOT a stealth. cant remember the damn length and rise off the top of my head. its also a left hand lever.

It's a great bike imo, but on 29's - I'd try get a ride on one first - you need to be sure 29 is for you.

To me 29's felt like wagon wheels, although I'm only 5ft 8 - so that probably didn't help.

If 29's suit you - go for it - cracking bike.

This is a worry :( My local trail centre does rentals so maybe I need to take a 29er out where I'll be doing a large chunk of my riding.

I'm a smidge over 6 foot but I love how my current 26" MTB feels compared to my 700C hybrid, I have no idea how much of that is down to wheel size though.

I'm pretty sure i've had 12-13 runs in a day on a sunday, but that was when they had 4 vans i think. Seems slower with 6 vans than 4.

I don't think I could have physically managed more than 9 runs to be honest, I was utterly exhausted. Same again doing 7 runs on Monday, but it was a cracking 2 days and I conquered Dai Hard, so I'm pleased with that. :)

Also got a spot of airtime on the Sunday, for the Airshotz photographer:

Wish I had somewhere decent, and local where I could practice bigger and better jumps, there's just not much near me.

I have a Reverb dropper and I have noticed when it is fully extended I can push the saddle down but then as soon as pressure is released it goes back to the top. Do I need to give it a bleed to sort that?

Yes - mine's the same.. yet to get around to doing it.. :(

This is a late response but I don't think you need to bleed for that, it's probably just lost a bit of pressure. Extend it fully, remove from the bike and top it back up to 250psi. If it happens again quickly it might need a service (which seems to cost almost as much as a brand new one) but otherwise it's just one of those things to do every few months or so.

With regards to starting out would it be overkill buying a full face helmet? Obviously won't be jumping in head first into black trails etc but intention is to progress that direction eventually.

Don't want to splash out for two helmets if I have to end up buying one anyway but at same time don't want to look like a t%%% wearing one on starting out .

You won't need a full face helmet, you don't need one for black trails anyway. A decent half shell job, will be more than enough. Plus if you get to the level where you need one (DH trails) the expense of a helmet will be the least of your worries :p

You'll also look like a ****...

Right kiddies.. options..

Bird Aeris, Banshee Spitfire 2015/16, Transition Patrol 2016, Nukeproof Mega AM 2015..

DB Inline or Monarch Plus?

Pikes still good bang for buck?

Aeris is obviously wallet friendlier but stock is pretty bad until Feb. Love the patrol in black..

should also say planning on transferring drivetrain, controls, brakes and wheels over. wheels are 26", shouldn't cause any problems should it?

E: internet says the patrol is not a good idea on 26. Bb gets too low.

I thought this would be the case especially along beecraigs:p

I have the spitty and its ace
I'd get the transition though just for the variety :)
It's got the inline ccdb and its good - some problems with quality control it seems from the interwebs gossip though

Spits good cos you can put 26 wheels on now and buy new 27.5 drops later

All good bikes those neil_g , can't go wrong with any of them.
That said, the Tranny and Spitty would be my choices (Bird too, but that's off the table atm)... will most likely choose the spitty.

Made absolutely no difference to mine. Still drops ~1" or so.

Ha, most definitely won't need it for beecraigs. Though they've done some work up there, doesn't look too bad. Only an hour away from glentress though

Just get your current hubs relaced to 650b rims. Most 650b frames are going to be ruined with 26" wheels. If you really don't want to change, then I'd go spitty.
